Province gains stability in socio-economic development in Q1, 2017

Provincial People’s Committee, on March 27, convened its periodic session to approve a report on the local socio-economic development, national defence-security in Q1, 2017; orientations, tasks for Q2, 2017 and some major draft projects and plans to be implemented in the coming time, which was presided over by Tran Tham Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.

Industry, trade-services with moderate growth

In Q1, 2017, the province’s index of industrial production surged 7.27% compared to last year’s same period. Province-based industrial parks (IPS) also lured more than VND1.31billion in FDI capital or 97% of total FDI amount flowing in the province over the past three months. Whilst, companies at province-based IPs reached US$2.8billion in total export turnover or 43.8% of the whole province’s total export value. Their total revenue also reached US$5.3billion. In addition, the province continued realizing construction of some new IPs approved by Prime Minister with a total area of 3,146 hectares, namely the expanded Bau Bang IP, the expanded North Tan Uyen IP, the VSIP III and the Cay Truong IP.

Also during the period, the province’s total retail value of commodities and services was estimated at VND39.6trillion, up 19.7% against last year’s same period. The province’s Consumer Price Index rose by 4.49% compared to last year’s same period. The province also paid attention to market management, opportunely handled wrong cases, contributing to stabilize the local market.

The province’s trade surplus was estimated at US$1.7billion. Particularly, the province’s total export turnover reached US$6.36billion while import value was more than US$4.66billion. The province’s main export products like woodwork, garment-textile, footwear…continued obtaining stable growth. The province’s State budget revenue was around VND11.5trillion, up 10% over last year’s same period while total State spending was more than VND2.2trillion, down 23% compared to last year’s same period. Besides, the province’s total capital mobilized was estimated at more than VND145.9trillion, up 18.7% against last year’s same period; total outstanding loans estimated at more than VND135.3trillion…

Social welfare ensured

The province continued making efforts in socio-cultural fields over the past three months. Noticeably, the province took good care of revolutionary contributors, the poor and workers. Around VND520billion was mobilized to realize activities on social welfare; build and upgrade 48 gratitude houses and 23 “great unity” ones. Regarding education-training, the province bent on improving teaching and assessment ways for pupils; set up methods to organize the 2017 national high school graduation examination. The whole province is now home to 233 schools at all levels meeting national standards or 62.7% of total. The local sector of education also regularly checked and enhanced the quality of education at pre-schools, especially private ones.

The province continued paying attention to public healthcare while strengthening activities to ensure food safety and hygiene. The local healthcare sector also made inspection tours of 3,623 food trading and processing facilities, discovered and opportunely prevented 571 wrong ones…

Such these apart, the province organized numerous activities in celebration of the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2017, the 20th anniversary of the province’s development…Festivals were also held thoughtfully under the State’s regulations. Besides, the province focused on directing the organization of the 2nd National “Don Ca Tai Tu” (Southern folk music) Festival. Province-based tourist sites regularly improved their quality of service. The province in Q1 2017 welcomed 1.7 million tourists, up 6.2% compared to last year’s same period or 38.5% of the year’s plan with total revenue of VND400billion.

Speaking at the session, Mr.Liem said that the province’s economy in Q1, 2017 continued reaching stable growth. He required the local sectors and authorities at all levels to concentrate on realizing tasks under the instruction of the Government, Prime Minister and provincial Party Committee; make efforts to successfully carry out tasks on socio-economic development in 2017. He also affirmed that the province will further improve the local investment climate, organize dialogues with businesses and industries’ associations to help remove their difficulties for better results in production and business.
