9th get-together for Chau Thanh district veterans

Attending the get-together were former State President Nguyen Minh Triet, the provincial party committee secretary Mai The Trung and provincial leaders through various stages and more than 400 deputies who were used to join in struggles at Chau Thanh district.

At the event, participants tracked back tradition of soldiers and people of Chau Thanh district of yore. In the two resistance wars, Chau Thanh district had more than 1,500 fallen soldiers, 200 heroic mothers and nearly 1,000 war invalids and sick soldiers.

With the glorious feats, 14 out of 17 communes of Chau Thanh district were awarded the title of People’s Armed Force Hero.

Addressing the get-together, the provincial party committee vice secretary Pham Van Canh stressed that the provincial party committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee forever pay tribute to cadres, soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the national freedom.
