Update: 10-07-2021 | 15:04:38

Joining hands with hostel workers to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic, hostel owners and organizations, departments, and benefactors have had many different ways and activities to support workers staying in such accommodation.

The Youth Volunteer Team of Tan Dong Hiep ward and the local Red Cross organize the "love sharing" event by giving necessities to people staying in the blockade area.

Proactive Covid-19 prevention and control

At the Doan Kim Son hostel at Xom Den hamlet of Tan My commune in Bac Tan Uyen district, right at the entrance is a billboard calling upon everyone: "Off working hours, please stay at home, don't go out when you don't really have to go out" and the "5K" message of Ministry of Health specifying each job and operation to live safely with the Covid-19 pandemic. Le Hong Nhan, a worker residing at the hostel, said: “When I read these messages, everyone and I in the hostel are aware of the need to prevent and control the epidemic. The situation of Covid-19 epidemic occurring in the province is very complicated and many workers have been infected, so it is necessary to call on everyone in the hostel to prevent and control the epidemic.”

And at the hostel in Quarter 1 of An Phu ward in Thuan An city, the owner of the hostel, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien, has equipped hand sanitizer at the entrance and posted the message of "Wash your hands and disinfect when going in and out". Ms. Lien said: “In early June, when my province had an epidemic, I equipped a disinfectant spray at the entrance and propagated workers about the benefits of implementing the "5K" of the Ministry of Health. Whenever I have time, I go from room to room to remind workers about washing hands to disinfect and encourage people to limit communication and contact."

Not only did he equip workers with disease prevention measures, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, the owner of a hostel in Tan Binh ward of Di An city regularly updated news about epidemics related to workers, the company, the locations of the hostel, and the addresses where the provincial Center for Disease Control is looking for people to promptly notify the workers to stay at the accommodation. Mr. Nam also checked the residence book to capture the employment information of the workers staying in the hostel for guidance when needed regarding the disease prevention and control. Every week, Mr. Nam also distributes masks to workers staying in the hostel to effectively prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic.

Supporting quarantine areas

As many cases of workers being infected with Covid-19 have been uncovered, the related hostels have been blocked and the life of workers away from home has been under many difficulties. Understanding the situation, local departments, unions, along with many benefactors and individuals in the province have contributed to provide necessities for workers staying in the blockade areas.

Grasping the lives of workers in hostels in the blockade area in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward of Tan Uyen town, the Trade Union of Tan Uyen town has campaigned and called for organizations, individuals contributed to support workers staying in accommodation to reduce difficulties, feel secure and comply with regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control. Since then, many individuals have actively supported the town's Trade Union and hand-delivered packages to workers. The representative of the town's Trade Union gave 400 gifts and necessities to 25 accommodation establishments in Group 8 of Binh Hoa 2 neighborhood, 120 gifts to workers at Kim Oanh hostel at Khanh Long Quarter and 100 gifts to residents in Khanh Loc Quarter.

The above meaningful and humane work at this time has spread to many places in the province. In Binh Chuan ward of Thuan An city, nearly 5,000 gifts of necessities were given to motels in the blockade area. These are the gifts to share and help the workers that have been supported by benefactors along with the local authority.

In various ways of supporting, people everywhere are reaching out to the difficult workers in the blockade area. Every day, portions of porridge, loaves of bread, bundles of vegetables, boxes of instant noodles and rice, and other necessities have been brought in by many individuals to support the residents at groups 18, 19, and 20 on Thai Binh alley of An Binh ward in Di An city. There are nearly 700 motel rooms and 150 households with more than 3,500 people including about 450 children and about 100 elderly people. Close monitoring has been made on the lives of households in the hostel, the Red Cross of An Binh ward and An Binh ward authority have actively mobilized units and individuals day and night to provide necessities for the people and milk for the families and the children living in the hostels.

Upholding the same spirit, the Youth Volunteer Rapid Response Team of Tan Dong Hiep ward in Di An city and the Red Cross of the ward also visited and donated servings of vegetables, fruits and necessities for =people at 2 quarantine areas at alley 221 onn Tran Quang Khai street of Dong Tac neighborhood, hostel number 24 on Doan Thi Kia street of Dong Chieu neighborhood and the Youth Union of workers in Tan Long neighborhood. By the program, the units promptly gave more than 80 food portions and encouraged and shared difficulties with people staying at the blockade locations.

It can be said that the tradition of mutual affection is always the beauty of the Vietnamese. When compatriots face difficulties, that spirit is strongly promoted and spread widely in the community by working together to overcome the epidemic.
