Phu Giao District WU's Congress to promote solidarity, building a strong and comprehensive union

On July 9, the 5th Congress of Phu Giao District Women's Unon tenure 2021-2026, which was selected by Provincial Women's Union (WU) as the model congress, was officially opened. Due to the surging Covid-19, the congress was held online. Attending the congress were Nguyen Van Loc, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Truong Thanh Nga, Member of the Central Committee of Vietnam Women's Union, Member of Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of Provincial Women's Union; leaders of the District Party Committee, District People's Committee and 150 official delegates.

During the last tenure, all classes of women in Phu Giao district strived, trained and cultivated their moral qualities, and constantly studied to improve their qualifications. Phu Giao district had many practices appreciated by Provincial Women's Union. Two unions in the district have supported policy families, families in difficult circumstances with more than 4 billion VND; called upon to build, repair and presented 21 houses with a total value of more than 1.6 billion VND. Besides, the WU also mobilized more than 1.5 billion VND for disease prevention and control.

The WU established and maintained 129 loan rotation groups, 17 savings groups; 94% of staff and members participated in savings at branches with total amount of over 15 billion VND, helped 1,781 members to borrow loans for home-based business development. Women's Unions at all levels in the district established and maintained 11 streets, 76 flower streets, 11 self-managing groups for environmental protection, 7 associations of "5 no, 3 clean"...

At the congress, the delegates approved the direction and orientation for the next term; listened to presentations from the grassroots, summary of opinions about documents of superior Congresses. The Congress elected a new Executive Committee consisting of 21 members, and elected 5 members to Standing Committee of district WU for the new term. Nguyen Thi Bich Van continued to be elected President of the District Women's Union 2021-2026.

On this occasion, 7 collectives and 16 individuals received certificates of merit issued by Provincial Women's Union, and 20 collectives and 35 individuals were commended by People's Committee of Phu Giao District for outstanding performance in the past tenure.
