Activities to mark 68th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day

To mark the 68th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, Di An town’s Steering Board of Great Holidays has planned to organize a candle-burning ceremony to pay tribute at town’s Martyrs’ Cemetery on the evening of July 27 ahead.

It is expected that around 1,000 candles will be burned on heroes and martyrs’ tombs. A traditional art performance together with an incense-offering ceremony to commemorate heroes and martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of national liberation and unification will be also organized.

On this occasion, the whole town has recognized and honored 12 outstanding citizens, 9 outstanding revolutionary families and 7 wards taking good care of war invalids, martyrs’ families and revolutionary contributors in 2015. They are outstanding individuals and collectives in the local patriotic emulation and “paying debt of gratitude” movements.

In addition, Di An town will organize delegations to visit and present gifts worth VND800,000 each to 50 outstanding policy families; upgrade and build 5 gratitude houses to policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors in need of housing.

Many other significant activities such as get-togethers, exchanges with historical witnesses; traditional art performances; environmental hygiene at monuments…will be also organized in wards of the town.
