Today, Binh Duong solemnly holds the 80th anniversary of the National Front for the Reunification of Viet Nam (Nov. 18, 1930-2010). On the occasion, Binh Duong Newspaper had a talk with Dao Ngoc Nu, chairwoman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee about the operation of all level fronts, promotion of national great unity strength and so on.

Assessing the operation of all level fronts, Mrs.Nu said that the provincial Fatherland Front at all levels have over years grasped local political tasks to launch emulation movements including the mobilizations of “All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas”, “Day for the poor”, “All people protect national security” gained encouraging results. At present, 561 quarters and hamlets across province have mobilized the public to build cultural families. Through the mobilization of “All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas”, poverty reduction, environmental protection, order security, building of political system at grassroot level have won a great response from the public.

From the Fund for the poor, all level fronts built over 7,500 hi-unity houses worth over 68,539bil, repaired and built 2,479 gratitude houses worth VND15,834bil, helped the poor enjoy free health check-up and treatment worth tens of billions of VND…

As for the work of gathering the public, all level fronts have created good ways and models by setting up club for proprietors, sub-society for lodgers, and club for crime control and so on. By results of the above emulation movements, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee has contributed to excel local tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security.

So, to uphold strength of national great unity, what requirements should all level fronts focus on, madam?

As an industrial and urbanization province with a great change of the structure of population and social class, psychology and demand of the public are very various.

Therefore, all level fatherland fronts should renovate further their contents, operational ways in conformity with tasks in the new period.

First, the all level fronts must eye residential areas, households to grasp timely the public’s aspiration. Second, the units should excel their role in representing and taking care for the public’s legitimate rights. Third, they need to diversify ways of gathering as well as encourage self-control models…

Could you tell more about efficiency of significant programs initiated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee?

Aside from the done results from the two mobilizations of “All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas” and “Day for the poor”, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee has extended and held many significant movements and programs. For examples, since 2008, the Committee has helped 134 poor children enjoy free heart surgeries. The program has brought smile, health for needy kids for the sake of community integration.

Besides, the Committee annually urges ad launched assistance work for flood victims. Recently, the Committee has received more than VND5.5bil in cash and goods worth over VND2bil from donors to help flood victims in Central region.
