Bau Bang focuses on shifting the local economic structure

The shift of the local economic structure towards the growth of industry and services is one of main tasks of Bau Bang district’s Party Committee in the 2014 and 2015 tenure.


To achieve this target, the district’s Party Committee has put forward many synchronous measures in leadership, striving to reach a 13%-15% growth by the end of the year.

 New opportunities

 As a center of Bau Bang district, Lai Uyen commune owns a lot of advantages for development in the trade and service sectors. The birth of Bau Bang industrial and urban park has also contributed to promoting the district’s trade-services sectors.


 A glance of the new market in Lai Uyen district’s Dong So hamlet

 In addition, Lai Uyen commune’s trade-service sectors has reached a robust growth since the district’s Administration Center was put into operation on April 1, 2014. Nguyen Van Son residing in Lai Uyen commune’s Dong So hamlet said that business activities around the district’s Administration Center has got more animated.

 Tran Van Hung, Secretary of Lai Uyen communal Party Committee said that the commune’s trade-service sectors has gained an obvious growth since the district’s Administration Center was put into operation. He added: “Every week, economic staff of the commune are assigned to meet locals in order to know about the local business activities while making dissemination of information about the Party and State’s policies among them, thereby creating favorable conditions for their investment and business activities.

 Thanks to favorable conditions plus good leadership of the local Party Committee, People’s Committee, Lai Uyen commune’s production and business activities have constantly achieved development in both quality and quantity. So far, the whole commune has had a total of 880 production and business facilities, up nearly 400 compared to the beginning of the tenure. Of these, there are 800 individual business households.

 Tapping local advantages

 According to Nguyen Huu Chi, Secretary of Bau Bang district’s Party Committee, the district is satisfying conditions for upholding the local strong points in industrial and service development.

Bau Bang industrial and urban park has been put into operation with a total area of more than 2,000 hectares, including 1,000 hectares for industrial manufacture.

 The whole district now has a total of 230 enterprises, comprising of 198 domestic enterprises with a total registered capital of more than US$1.3trillion and 32 FDI ones capitalized at US$206mln. “The district’s trade-service sector has reached obvious changes, especially in retail system, rural markets and services…”, he added.

 Along with abundant land and synchronous infrastructure, Bau Bang district will further attach special importance to building up competent cadres and civil servants at entrusted tasks and requirements. Till 2015, more than 90% of the district’s cadres and civil servants fulfill education at university and college levels.

 To accelerate the shift of the local economic structure towards the growth of industry and trade-service, the district will continue effectively implementing the central and provincial resolutions, directives and action programs on socio-economic development. The district will also put focus on administrative reform in each phase and field, helping absorbing resources for development.

 Also according to Mr.Chi, the district will focus on effectively implementing policies on stabilizing macroeconomics, removing difficulties in production and business to maintain a reasonable growth. “The commune always maintains social order and security. The local people also show great solidarity and make more efforts in production and rise up to legitimately enrich themselves. All are advantages of the district and the district’s Party Committee will further uphold them to promote the local rapid and sustainable development…”, he emphasized.

 For 2015’s targets, the district will strive to reach a 13%-15% growth. Of these, industrial manufacture rises up 14%-16%; services up 20%-23% and agricultural production up 3%-4%. By the end of 2015, the district’s economic structure will be industry-service and agriculture with the respective proportion of 55%-28% and 17%.
