Ben Cat overcomes difficulties, fulfilling key targets

Despite common difficulties, Ben Cat has fulfilled many key targets of 2012, especially in FDI attraction.

Nguyen Huu Chi, Chairman of Ben Cat district’s People’s Committee said that 2012’s economy faced many difficulties, greatly affecting comsumer price index, export turnover and production of economic sectors. But, the district’s economic growth was still high with FDI attraction three times higher than that of 2011. 

My Phuoc I and II Industrial Parks have absorbed many FDI companies

The district’s total production value reached nearly VND50trillion, a year-on-year increase of 17.5%. Thanks to well-built infrastructure, 8 industrial parks of 4,086 hectares in the district are being fully covered. Last year, the whole district absorbed 6 FDI projects with total registered  capital of more than US$71mln, lifting the total number of FDI projects flowing into the district so far up 425 with total registered capital of US$4.6bln.

The district’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services reached more than VND4 trillion. The district also granted business registration certificates to 1,480 individual business households with total registered capital of VND372bln, bringing the total number of individual business households herein to 17,000 with total registered capital of more than VND2trillion.

Thanks to the policy of socialization implemented well, the district saw a strong growth in rural trade system with many spaciously-built markets, namely Hung Hoa, Chanh Phu Hoa…The district is building two other rural markets of Long Nguyen, Hoa Loi and put the My Phuoc 2 market and Vinatex 2 supermarket into operation.

In a bid to ensure supply of essential commodities and constribute to stabilizing market price, the district coordinated with Vinatex, Binh Duong Book-Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company to organize mobile sales trips in communes and township of Hung Hoa, Hoa Loi, Tan Hung and Chanh Phu Hoa at the local people’s demand for shopping.

Noticeably, the district fulfilled a plan to build the South Ben Cat urban area and the Bau Bang urban area by 2030 and visions till 2050 and a plan to upgrade My Phuoc into an urban area of class IV. Provincial People’s People also approved a project to devide Ben Cat district into Ben Cat town and Bau Bang district; change My Phuoc township and communes of Thoi Hoa, Tan Dinh, Hoa Loi and Chanh Phu hoa to wards; devide Lai Uyen commune into Bau Bang township and Lai Uyen commune. This was seen as an important step to promote the district’s sustainable socio-economic development in the future.

The district also gained positive results in the socio-cultural field. Particularly, the district introduced jobs to 10,000 laborers; granted 6,213 health insurance cards to those who rendered services to the nation and their relatives; built and handed over 22 gratitude houses and 27 unity houses to social policy beneficiaries…

In 2013, the district will strive to reach a 14%-15% growth in industrial production value and a 50%-60% growth in trade-services…To achieve the above targets, the district needs to promote administrative procedure reform; bend on developing key works, including the Bau Bang industrial park, the My Phuoc-Tan Van highway, the Ong Co bridge, the belt road 4…
