Better ensuring employees’legitimate rights and interests

Provincial Labor Union and Youth Union yesterday co-held a ceremony to launch the 2017 provincial Workers’ Month, Workers’ Week and Action Month for Labor Safety-Hygiene under the theme of “For trade unionists’ benefits” and “Promoting training on labor safety-hygiene to prevent labor accidents and occupational diseases”. For greater concern, Binh Duong Newspaper had an interview with Bui Thanh Nhan, President of provincial Labor Union.

-Could you tell us about the objective of activities during the 2017 provincial Workers’ Month, Workers’ Week and Action Month for Labor Safety-Hygiene?

The objective of the activities is to actively contribute to the implementation of the Resolution No.20-NQ-TW of the 10th Party Central Executive Board on “Further building Vietnamese working class in the period of intensified national modernization and industrialization” and tasks on national socio-economic development in 2017. All aim to raise public awareness of food safety and hygiene; effectively realize the Law on Food Safety and Hygiene and guidance documents; boost training on food safety and hygiene at food trading and processing facilities; improve working conditions and give healthcare for laborers; minimize working environmental pollution, labor accidents and occupational diseases, contributing to affirming the role of the Trade Union and absorb involvement of numerous laborers.

-What about detailed contents?

Provincial Trade Unions at all levels will make dissemination of information about the significance of International Labor Day (May 1); encourage laborers to well realize their responsibilities as stipulated as well as regulations and measures to ensure labor safety and hygiene; strengthen a task of catching laborers’ aspirations for timely support, contributing to stabilizing production-business and building harmonious labor relations among enterprises…

They will also organize numerous activities to better ensure employees’ legitimate rights and interests. Particularly, they need to organize dialogues between authorities, employers and employees for timely solutions; oversee the implementation of labor policies on salary, bonus, social insurance, unemployment insurance…at enterprises; take part in controlling over food quality and safety; visit, present gifts and houses of compassion to employees with difficult circumstances, those hit by labor accidents or suffering from occupational diseases.

Based on labor regulations, they need to recheck the contents of mass labor deals, hold talks with employers and put forward reasonable suggestions, aiming to better ensure employees’ legitimate rights and interests; coordinate with employers to organize activities taking care of employees’ spiritual life.

-This is the first year Binh Duong organizes the Action Month for Labor Safety and Hygiene, so what are the province’s concrete activities during the action month?

Trade Union locals will be proactive to team up with employers to recheck, supplement and oversee the implementation of regulations to ensure labor safety and hygiene; improve working conditions; minimize working environmental pollution, labor accidents and occupational diseases; flexibly organize talk shows, seminars, contests on labor safety and hygiene…to enhance employees’ awareness of occupational diseases, labor accidents as well as skills against them.

They will also join hands with employers to launch a “green-clean-nice movement” to ensure labor safety and hygiene in association with honoring outstanding collectives and individuals while promoting movements “Enterprises with cultural standards”, “Upholding technical initiatives, applying sci-tech advancements in production-business”…
