Binh Duong is a highlight locality in national economic picture, says State President

On the second day of the lunar first month of 2015, the State President Truong Tan Sang paid a Tet wish visit to Binh Duong provincial party committee, authority and people. Receiving the State President were Mai The Trung, secretary of the provincial party committee cum head of the provincial National Assembly delegation, Pham Van Canh, vice secretary of the provincial party committee cum chairman of the provincial People’s Council, Tran Van Nam, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and leaders of local departments, agencies and so on.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Tran Van Nam briefed the guest on local basic characters of socio-economy and local residents’ life during the Lunar New Year 2015. In the last year, the local socio-economic situation kept winning positive development. Most of the targets of socio-economy reached and surpassed the set plans. The local economy 2014 maintained a 13% growth compared with the previous year while economic structure won a rate of 60.8%, 36.2% and 3% in industry, service and agriculture, respectively. Policies of social welfare were launched effectively.

The provincial administration has mobilized all sources to take care of privileged families. In 2014, the entire province spent about VND570bil for contributors. In addition, the rate of poor families existed 1.52% on the provincial poverty line. Also in the last year, the provincial administration debuted the provincial integrated administration center, announced Thu Dau Mot city as the 2^nd class urban area, established 2 towns and 2 districts, opened some key works and more.

Especially, local foreign investment attraction continued to reach encouraging results with investment attraction capital of US$1.5bil. The 2010-2015 goal is to attract US$5bil in foreign investment capital. However, the local administration has thus far lured US$6.7bil, surpassing 34% of its plan. In the end of 2014, the entire province attracted 2,375 foreign investment projects, capitalized at US$20.380bil. In addition, the local budget collection reaped VND32,000bil in the past year, an 8% increase from the same period last year.

Over the last years, Binh Duong has led in export surplus. Specifically, the locality reached over US$4bil in export surplus in 2014.

Besides, Binh Duong held gratitude bus trips to help over 1,200 laborers come back their hometown, mobilized 106 enterprises to take more than 10,000 workers to their homeland on Tet holiday.

As for commodities in service for Tet holiday, the local administration steered functional agencies to preserve goods with the total value of more than VND880bil, VND40bil of which was under preferential loans from the State. Aside from selling goods at supermarkets, enterprises, enterprises joining in the goods stability program held mobile market-days across districts, towns and Thu Dau Mot city, so there was no scarcity of goods and price hike before, during and after Tet holiday.

The State President Truong Tan Sang highly appreciated local achievements of socio-economy in the last year and stressed “Binh Duong has over the last years led the country in foreign investment attraction and the 2014 economic growth of 13% was an encouraging result. Especially, the local administration reached over US$4bil in export surplus in the past year, this is a highlight character of the national economic picture”.

Moreover, the State President asked to spur industrialization and modernization on hi-tech application and noted that local administration should have a well preparation to integrate actively into the international economy in the next 5 years.

In return, Mai The Trung, secretary of the provincial party committee cum head of the provincial National Assembly delegation extended best wishes to the State President and leaders of the Party and State on the Lunar New Year.

During the Lunar New Year 2015, Binh Duong held numerous activities of welcoming the Lunar New Year for local people. Particularly, the local administration held the New Year’s Eve festival at Binh Duong New City. In addition, the entire province has 9 firework locations, luring about 100,000 audiences.
