Building up Binh Duong as a green, clean and beautiful industrial city

Urban development program in the 2011-2015 period in Binh Duong province has achieved important results, forming a foundation for building up Binh Duong as a green, clean and beautiful industrial city in the 2016-2020 period.

Changing vigorously

Implementing urban development program in the 2011-2015, the province has basically become the center in the southern key economic zone. In 2015, Binh Duong was one of the three leading provinces in exports and investment attraction. Besides, Thu Dau Mot city basically reached type-1 urban standards; along with Vung Tau, Bien Hoa, My Tho, acted as the development poles in the urban system of the southern key economic zone.

In the 2011-2015, provincial economy grew in the right direction. The province has 28 industrial parks with more than 9,423 ha, occupancy rate of about 65%, 6/8 operating industrial clusters on an area of ​​nearly 600 ha approved by the detailed planning, occupancy rate of about 45%. Industrial parks were mainly located in accordance with arterial roads, like: Binh Duong Avenue, DT743C road – Song Than, My Phuoc - Tan Van route, to access river ports, sea ports of the region.

Industrial parks, clusters were designed to meet national standards of technical infrastructure, and have wastewater treatment systems, connect with urban areas in order to create a consistency production, residential, service, and recreation areas. Currently, industrial space tends to shift to the north of the province; spontaneous industrial zones in the south are gradually shifting to urban construction.

Nguyen Thanh Tai, Director of Construction Department, said the overall objectives of urban development program in the 2011 - 2015 were basically completed. To achieve these goals, provincial Party, People's Committee regularly gave directions in a unified, throughout, timely manner. Sectors and localities in the province perceived and draw up action plans for the implementations. In addition, a number of domestic and foreign enterprises invested in new industrial parks, urban areas with synchronous infrastructure systems and urban services, obtaining economic efficiency, forming the urban face of Binh Duong.

According to Department of Construction, urban development objectives in the 2016-2020 in the province are to building Binh Duong as a green, clean and beautiful industrial city, one of leading provinces in industrialization, modernization and international integration; a political, economic and cultural - social - security – defense center; a traffic hub of the southern key economic one and HCM City zone. In addition, the goal of PPC is to building Binh Duong as a civilized, modern city directly under the Central by 2020. The province will focus on building new urban areas in the 4,196-ha industrial – service – urban complex, and upgrading and renovating TDM City, Thuan An town, Di An town, Ben Cat town, Tan Uyen town and northern satellite towns.

Binh Duong urban development program in the 2016-2020 is the foundation of the planning of capital construction investment (invested by local State budget), orientations of investment attraction in fields of economic, technical, social infrastructure in each 5-year period, and petition for upgrading Binh Duong to urban city directly under the Central.

In the 2016-2020, the province will strive to accomplish some main goals in urban development: Total revenue to reach over 54,000 billion VND; entire urban population 2,500 people; urban population 2,050 people; urbanization rate 82%; residential floor area per urban area 30m2/person; the proportion of permanent, semi- permanent in urban area 50%... By 2019, Binh Duong will have completed dossiers to submit to National Assembly, Central Government, Ministry of Construction in order for Binh Duong to become a city directly under the Central with 3 districts, 2 towns and 4 districts and 113 communal administrative units in 2020.

Nguyen Thanh Tai said, to implement the urban development program2016-2020 period, in the coming time, Department of Construction will strengthen supervision, inspection on construction projects; submit some suitable mechanisms and policies to higher authorities… The province will complete soon targets to have a new modern, civilized face.
