Youths join hands to build new-style rural areas

In response to the “Youths join hands to build new-style rural areas” movement in the period of 2011 and 2015, provincial Youth Unions at all levels put forward many programs, absorbing the participation of members. The local youths also expressed their voluntary role in aspects through the movement, contributing to promoting the local socio-economic development.

“Lighting up countryside roads”

During the period, provincial Youth Unions at all levels promoted the “Youths join hands to build new-style rural areas” movement among members with a focus on practical actions such as disseminating the Party and State’s policies on building new-style rural areas, launching summer volunteer campaigns; maintaining volunteer squads on environmental protection, upgrading rural roads…

Noticeably, they joined hands to carry out the “Lighting up countryside roads” work with significant activities, including making 8 provincial-level youth works; upgrading rural roads with a total expense of more than VND650mln…

They also provided free medical check-up and medicine for 10,621 people living in the poor region of the province; gave more than 250 bus tickets, 5,000 gifts and other support packages valued at nearly VND1.5bln for Youth Union members, pupils and locals with difficult circumstances.

Such these apart, the local young people joined hands to build 60 houses of compassion worth more than VND1.9bln for youth households in communes with new-style rural construction; presented 15 works on clean water worth VND17mln…

Economic development in rural areas

Pham Hong Thang, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union said that over the past five years, provincial Youth Union maintained and set up 54 youth cooperation groups on economic development, 56 youth models on economic development and 2 youth cooperatives.

Provincial Youth Union also implemented vocational training programs for Youth Union members; made sci-tech transfer in production and introduced jobs to them, contributing to building new-style rural areas. Noticeably, Dau Tieng district’s Youth Union branch organized 15 classes on cooking, ways to tend rubber trees, raise cross-bred wild boars…; Phu Giao district’s Youth Union branch with 50 classes on sci-tech transfer; Ben Cat district’s Youth Union branch with classes on how to grow orchids, mushrooms…

Cao Van Doan, born in 1989, residing in Phu Giao district’s An Linh commune is an outstanding youth in the “Youths join hands to build new-style rural areas” movement. He is also a millionaire from the model of breeding crickets. With the model, he can secure the annual average income of between VND500mln and VND700mln.

To continue successfully realizing the “Youths join hands to build new-style rural areas” movement, the local Youth Union branches need to choose concrete models in line with each locality while setting forth orientations to enhance the efficiency of the movement, according to Mr.Thang.

Over the past five years, provincial Youth Union considered and disbursed nearly VND1.8bln in loan from the Plan 120 of the Youth Union Central Committee for youths to develop production models. Its affiliates also provided more than VND5.5bln in loan for 2,753 youths to promote home based business via support funds.
