On April 23, Binh Duong provincial People's Committee held a rehearsal to respond to chemical incidents in 2022 in coordination with many forces at the branch of Dong A Ton Joint Stock Company in Thu Dau Mot city. In the simulation scenario, an incident of ammonia chemical leakage from the 10m3 ammonia tank and the tank truck at the tank area during the chemical import process occured make ammonia released into the environment in large quantities, creating a dangerous contaminated areas. Immediately after receiving the order, the emergency responding teams including the incident zoning team, the gas extinguishing team and the incident repair team quickly went to the scene to isolate and localize the incident in a bid to prevent the source of the leak and extinguish the gas from the incident by spraying water from the fixed fire extinguishing system.
Speaking after the rehearsal, Mr. Nguyen Van Danh emphasized that over the past time, the situation of chemical incidents at chemical production and use facilities nationwide and in Binh Duong has had many complicated developments. Facing such situation, departments, agencies, localities and establishments continue to advise the steering committee to strengthen the organization of chemical incident response drills with focus on choosing drills at facilities that produce and use chemicals with large reserves and high risk of chemical incidents. At the same time, focus is on reviewing and advising the provincial People's Committee to procure equipment, means and supplies to equip the forces directly in charge of responding to chemical incidents in the province to ensuring timely implementation and effective tasks when complicated situations occur. Propaganda and education on the prevention and response to chemical incidents extensively among people and businesses are strengthened to proactively and positively prevent and respond to incidents.
