During the progress of implementing the national target on building new-style rural areas, Bau Bang district’s Party Committee has focused on instructing sectors and localities to attach special importance to developing collective economic models.
Initial efficiency
Tran Thanh Liem, Permanent Vice-Secretary of Bau Bang district’s Party Committee cum Head of the district’s Steering Board of Collective Economic Development said that implementing a task on collective economic improvement and development under the spirit of the Resolution of the 5th plenum of the 9th Party Central Committee, the Steering Board has boosted collective economic models, especially cooperatives and cooperative groups. Collective economic development is among 19 criteria of the national target on building new-style rural areas. Hence, the district’s Steering Board of Collective Economic Development has created favorable conditions for locals to promote collective economic models, helping them get jobs with stable income.
As a result, district-based cooperatives and cooperative groups have step by step stabilized and gone up. A cooperative group on guava in Tru Van Tho commune is a typical example for this. Established in Oct.2013 with 11 members and total farming area of 12 hectares, the cooperative group has so far reached the average output of 40 tons per hectare per year. With the average selling price of VND9.000 a kg, it has brought members a stable source of income.
Thanks to the attention and help of the district’s Party Committee and Steering Board, district-based cooperatives and cooperative groups have worked effectively and continued fostering. But, some have still faced lots of difficulties, due to the lack of investment capital, unstableness of consumption market…
Further removing difficulties
Tran Quang, Head of the cooperative group on breeding milk cows in Lai Hung commune’s Cau Sat hamlet said that many local households have found it hard to develop the model.
To remove difficulties of milk cows-breeding cooperative groups in particular and others in general, Mr.Liem said that the district will carry out a survey on business operations at cooperatives and cooperative groups to opportunely catch their queries for corresponding solutions. The district will also organize visits to effective models on collective economics to learn skills and experience for better development. Such these apart, the district will create advantageous conditions for cooperatives and cooperative groups to get access to preferential policies from the State and relevant organizations.
Mr.Liem also affirmed that under the local target on comprehensive development and construction, the district will mobilize all sources to promote collective economic models in line with the new context. For communes that have not met criteria of the new-style rural construction yet, the district will recheck and reinforce their steering boards of collective economic development to effectively uphold collective economic models. The district will also regularly inspect and monitor the operations of cooperatives and cooperative groups in communes recognized as new-style rural ones for better development.
Currently, the district is home to 5 cooperatives with 53 members and 10 cooperative groups with 135 members. Mass organizations in the district have so far set up 14 linking groups and 8 clubs with 264 members. As of late 2015, district-based cooperatives and cooperative groups’ total initial capital reached more than VND18bln and more than VND9.3bln, respectively.
