Previously, the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City conducted a capacity assessment to confirm the Covid-19 test for the provincial Center for Disease Control and the provincial General Hospital. Basically, these two units have enough capacity in terms of personnel, facilities and equipment to perform confirmatory tests. As soon as possible, the health sector will complete the procedures to submit to the Ministry of Health for permission to confirm Covid-19 testing. In the next steps, the sector also bid a plan to buy biological products and chemicals, especially, large-scale Covid-19 testing tests to promptly respond to epidemic prevention and control.

Meanwhile, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Trong Co, Deputy Commander of the provincial Military Command, said that the provincial Military Command and the district People's Committee have coordinated with functional sectors to prepare new facilities including sites of demonstrations, motels, and hotels etc. to meet the accommodation of 5,000 people, bringing the total capacity to about 10,000 people in the quarantine backup plan; necessary equipment for isolation treatment facilities are reviewed and supplemented and field hospitals and new treatment facilities are set up with a capacity of about 600-800 people.

Treatment competence improved

The provincial health sector has developed a plan to collect and treat patients infected by Covid-19 at the provincial General Hospital. The province has established a field hospital to receive about 240 people at the same time and has a plan to establish more field hospitals in localities under the motto of "4 features on the spot", upgrading the maximum treatment capacity to about 600 Covid-19 patients at the same time.. Meanwhile, Medical Centers of districts, towns and cities (except those in Thu Dau Mot city, Bau Bang district, and Bac Tan Uyen district), each unit arranges treatment areas for patients with Covid-19 by the prescribed regulations of 10-20 beds, ready according to the motto to receive treatment of local patients and mild disease cases to reduce pressure for the provincial General Hospital.

Specialized and private hospitals in the province, depending on their actual situations, should arrange 5 to 20 beds to receive quarantine, quarantined treatments and treatment of Covid-19 patients when necessary. These units will receive treatment when the number of Covid-19 patients at the centers exceeds 70%. The monitoring, supervision, testing and medical quarantine at the patient's home after recovering from Covid-19 are also concerned and promoted by the health sector.

Local Department of Health has also submitted a proposal to the provincial People's Committee to consider and approve the policy for the provincial Center for Disease Control to purchase a rapid diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 antigen to serve the prevention and control in the province. The purpose of purchasing test kits is to be ready to respond to an emergency situation and proactive in detecting and monitoring suspected cases in high-risk areas and locations of hospitals, markets, supermarkets, bus stations, industrial zones and clusters; and, at the same time, the purpose is to have a basis to actively develop an effective responding plan.
