Binh Duong has a favorable geographical location for industrial, commercial and logistics development, and has quite complete infrastructure. However, to meet the development requirements, the province is also facing many big challenges, especially the overload of technical infrastructure. If we promote the positive aspects of regional connectivity during the development process, we will resonate the strength of each locality to develop together.
“If you want to go far, you have to go together”
Binh Duong has long made efforts for regional connectivity, but regional bottlenecks are still affecting the province's development. According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Member of the Central Theoretical Council, as the industrial center of Vietnam, but within the administrative boundaries of Binh Duong province, there is no infrastructure leading to important key infrastructure projects to trade goods and facilitate industrial development, such as airports and seaports.
In recent times, Binh Duong has been focusing on developing transport infrastructure connecting the region. In photo: Thu Bien Bridge connects the two provinces Binh Duong and Dong Nai.
The infrastructure connection of localities in the region is increasingly congested and slowly improving. At the same time, the transport infrastructure connecting the region in the south of Binh Duong has also been overloaded, leading to increased logistics costs in the province, directly affecting the retention of existing investors and attracting new investors, losing Binh Duong's competitive advantage. However, Binh Duong itself cannot solve this problem because connecting works are not only located in the province.
“The problem is that localities in the Southeast Region, the Southern Key Economic Region, and the Ho Chi Minh City Region need to unite to create systemic resilience for a new development stage. We must solve the problem of infrastructure overload and ensure smooth, inter-regional connectivity; must find consensus mechanisms to solve this fundamental problem in order to clear the bottlenecks and promote the socio-economic development of the whole region", Prof. Nguyen Quang Thuan said.
Associate Professor-Dr. Tran Dinh Thien also said that in the development process, regional connectivity needs to be stimulated more strongly, creating resonance for the whole region. Currently, the issue of regional integration of Ho Chi Minh City Region or Southern Key Economic Region has sparked debate. Binh Duong will make a positive contribution in solving this problem. Especially the routes connecting to the international integration center will be opened, Cai Mep - Thi Vai international transit port or Long Thanh airport. Those coordinates are being connected to ring roads of Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Duong will make strong progress, the investment attractiveness of Binh Duong will be much higher.
Proactively remove "bottlenecks"
With breakthrough policies to invest in transport infrastructure development, Binh Duong has recently achieved many important results in the socio-economic development process. In particular, accelerating the progress of regional connection projects is a focus in development. The province is implementing many projects to build roads and bridges connecting with neighboring provinces and cities.
The Provincial People's Committee continuously organizes meetings to update the implementation situation and promote the progress of regional transport projects to create a driving force for industrial - urban - service development. Arrange capital and supplement capital for regional connectivity projects. Accordingly, the province has supplemented the medium-term public investment plan with the Central budget capital until 2025 with VND4,266 billion for two component projects. Of which, the Ring Road 3 project passing through Binh Duong has VND1,266 billion and the Ring 3 resettlement compensation project has VND3,000 billion.

Binh Duong is also focusing its efforts on the implementation of Ring Road 4 projects, Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh Expressway, and coordinating with localities to implement the Bach Dang 2 Bridge project connecting Binh Duong - Dong Nai; raise the vertical clearance of Binh Trieu 1 bridge on the Saigon River connecting with Ho Chi Minh City. Construction progress of railways, roads, and waterways in the area are accelerated by Binh Duong in an effort to connect with key national infrastructure in the Southeast Region, Southern Key Economic Region, and Ho Chi Minh City Region.
Binh Duong is developing a plan with the goal of restructuring the industry internally, redistributing territorial space and reshaping development goals and orientations from now to 2030 and a vision to 2050, to provide integrated solutions towards building and developing Binh Duong along with other provinces in the Southeast region to become an important growth driving region of the country, promoting and spreading development with localities in the region. In particular, the province emphasizes and takes development models and structures, including: 1 development axis; 2 ecological corridors; 3 interconnected belts and 5 development zones serve as a guideline and principle for planning long-term strategies.
Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, said that in order to utilize advantages and promote the socio-economic development of the Southeast region and the Southern key economic region, Binh Duong has been mobilizing all resources for investment and development of connected transport infrastructure. This is both a condition and a driving force to attract investment and socio-economic development as well as a premise for the locality to make breakthroughs in the future. Based on the province's master plan to be considered for approval in 2023, along with socio-economic achievements as well as consultation with experts and economists, Binh Duong will synthesize and propose that the Central Government promulgates a specific mechanism for the Southeast region in general and Binh Duong in particular.
