Development of supporting industry: Shoes and textile

Update: 21-05-2011 | 00:00:00

Supporting industry for shoes making and textile is identified as 2 out of 5 major supporting industries, attracting many manufacturers who are accounted for great export revenue; however, short-comings remained.

 Supplies do not meet demands

The industry supporting textile making includes weaving, producing fabric, sewing thread, dye, bleach, buttons, sewing machines, moulds, packages, chemicals, prints, etc.

By 2009, over 100 enterprises and another 30 ones have been engaged in producing materials for textile industry; however, only one enterprise in Binh Duong Province can produce sewing machines while under assessment, only 5.83% of machines of the textile industry are advanced in comparision with 67.5% of average and 26.67% of fall-back technology. This has influenced capacity and quality of the supporting industry let alone qualification and scale of the field. As a matter of fact, majority of textile enterprises must import materials for their production.

Shoes making field saw the same in terms of materials. Only 40 enterprises can supply materials for shoes making in Binh Duong Province while only 7 enterprises of low production qualification can produce tanned leather.

In the face of big demands of shoes making sector, the supporting industry fails to supply and, therefore, prompts enterprises to import from foreign markets. To sustain development of textile and shoes making industry in Binh Duong, supporting industry should be boosted up.

In a bid to become a center of supporting industry for textile and shoes making

Under planning for industrial development for 2006-2020 period and general socio-economic development scheme of Binh Duong Province until 2020, textile and shoes making industry would be increased in ratio of industrial structure. The government is planning to develop Binh Duong Province into a center for industry supporting textile and shoes making nationwide.

It is projected that by 2020 the supply capacity would increase by 50% to satisfy domestic needs of textile industry. As for shoes making, making of materials would be enhanced by advanced and environment-friendly technology for the 2016-2020 period. The projects implemented by experts in textile and shoes making industry will determine regions and locations of factories.
