The organization of dialogue meetings with residents is a program of special interest to the people as well as leaders of Thu Dau Mot City. The timely grasp of thoughts, wishes, recommendations, and solutions proposed to overcome is expected to bring about an effective socio-economic transformation, creating motivation for the city to accelerate the development process.  

To untie the knot

In a recent dialogue meeting of the City People's Council’s Chairman with local residents, some delegates said that in the past 6 months, the city had controlled the Covid-19 outbreak well and strongly implemented measures to stimulate socio-economic development. In particular, with efforts of the political system, the construction and renovation of the city in recent years has brought a vitality felt by any resident living in the city. In particular, the change of the city’s face from the inner city to the suburbs is happening obviously. However, according to the delegates, besides the good results, Thu Dau Mot City still has many limitations in the urban development process.

According to delegate Nguyen Thi Kim Nhu, who lives in District 11, Phu Cuong ward, local flooding on roads is increasing, such as: Thu Dau Mot market area, in front of Biconsi Bach Dang... The competent need to quickly come up with more effective flood protection measures. In the same opinion, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nhan, a resident in District 2, Chanh Nghia ward, claimed that the flooding caused by heavy rain and high water level in some locations, such as Ong Chinh Than Bridge; sewer in quarter 9; on Nguyen Tri Phuong road, water flooded into people's houses, caused difficult traffic and traffic accidents.

Residents attend a dialogue meeting with city leaders to make recommendations on burning issues that need to be tackled in a timely manner.

Regarding traffic safety order, Nguyen Hoang Gia Bao Ngoc (District 3, Phu Loi ward), reported the situation of cars encroaching on motorcycle lanes, especially at peak hours, namely on Huynh Van Cu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Le Hong Phong, Phu Loi, 30-4 roads. The authorities need to pay attention, regularly patrol to handle and ensure traffic safety for people. Or Nguyen Thi Nhat (District 5, Hiep An ward), said that on many roads, car parking and residents encroached on pavements; and recommended that competent branches need to increase regular patrols and take thorough measures to ensure traffic safety order and urban aesthetics...

At the dialogue, representatives of women's unions in Thu Dau Mot City proposed to underground power cables to help provide safe electricity, create airy space, improve the environment and urban aesthetics. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the instruction and propagation in many forms, correct errors on public service web portals for the convenience of people. Besides, there were comments suggesting that localities need to issue land use right certificate for people, and complete road construction in planned residential areas...

Common consent

After listening to the recommendations of folks at the dialogue meeting, leaders of Thu Dau Mot City and competent branches answered clearly and specifically to people's questions and concerns. Regarding the encroachment on pavements for business, Thu Dau Mot People's Committee has issued a plan to inspect and handle violations of urban order, construction order on some roads in the city. In the coming time, the City People's Committee will continue to direct competent agencies to intensify the inspection and tackle violations to ensure traffic safety and urban aesthetics, while accelerating the campaign of building an urban cultural and civilized lifestyle in the area.

With straightforwardness, all opinions of the people were answered responsibly by leaders of the City People's Committee, solving part of the difficulties and obstacles in the process of exercising the supervision right of the population. Doan Thi Cuc (District 3, Hiep An Ward), said: "From the dialogue, many of our questions were thoroughly answered. This is an activity to help population and local authorities improve mutual understanding, and together make efforts to building a better city."
