From project of waste water monitoring…

Nguyen Trinh Cao Son, vice head of the Bureau of Environmental Protection, said to strengthen pollution prevention, supervise waste water source, a system of waste water monitoring has impacted positively on environmental management. Specifically, the system has helped the bureau control source of waste water at 21 industrial parks, accounting for 55.6% of total industrial waster water in the province.

More importantly, investors of local industrial parks have paid more attention to waster water treatment, contributing to minimize and prevent troubles of environmental pollution. From this benefit, the provincial administration has expanded the project of waste water monitoring to control over 70% of total industrial waster water source in the province.

Son added that in terms of inspection of waster water source outside industrial parks, the bureau last year inspected environmental hygiene at 98 businesses, cooperated with functional agencies to launch unexpected inspections across 40 local enterprises…

In addition, the bureau announced list of 102 environmentally-destructive companies from 2008 to 2012. Till the end of 2010, 93 environmentally-destructive companies fulfilled improvement of environmental pollution, reaching 91.2%. In 2011, the bureau announced another list of 31 environmentally-destructive workshops. As a result, 127 out of 133 workshops have so far completed improvement of environmental pollution, accounting for 95.5%.

More needed deeds

According to Son, the bureau will give priorities of focusing on solving drastically environmentally-destructive workshops, spurring inspections on environmental protection at businesses and industrial parks, maintaining environmental monitoring programs, assessing quality of environment, perfecting and expanding auto inspection system of waste water source at industrial parks and businesses and so on.

Additionally, the bureau will boost legal promulgation and improve awareness on environmental protection, open training classes on environmental protection for businesses, launch self-control models of environmental protection and so on.

The entire province now has 26 out of 28 industrial parks putting into operation (Thoi Hoa and An Tay industrial parks are under construction), 25 out of 26 of which have completed building of waste water treatment plants.
