Emulation movement on electricity thrift – a useful activity for country and family

Implementing the PM’s Instruction No.171, the provincial People’s Committee's Instruction No.02 on spurring electricity thrift, Binh Duong Electricity Company and Thuan An town Electricity just launched a program on “cultural quarters involve in electricity thrift”, contributing to expense thrift and environmental protection, civilized lifestyle and cultural family building.   Leaders of Thuan An Electricity Company and reps of mass bodies and quarters sign a commitment on energy saving.Electricity and lifeWith a strong and rapid development on all areas, reserve energy sources in the center of the earth like coal, oil have been gradually exhausted and can not reproduce in the short time. In addition, owing to effects of climate change, hydro-electricity plants’ shortage of water has made electricity output decrease significantly while demand on energy has increased strongly. These are challenges and risks that we have encountered. The best solution in the current period lies in thrift and proper usage of energy source to economize expenses and contribute to environmental protection.Thuan An Electricity Company’s vice director Le Ngoc Nhon, urged “It takes US$1mil to produce 1 MW of electricity at a big hydro-electric plant in Vietnam and production of 1kWh of electricity will emit 0.43kg of CO2 into environment. So electricity thrift contains a very important significance". Binh Duong is one of provinces and cities leading the whole country in increasing on rate of electrification with more than 30% per year in the period of 2000-2007. And, this rate was declined at 8.35% in 2010 and under 5% in 2012. In Thuan An town alone, rate of electricity consumption is equal one fourth of rate of the whole province, so requirement on electricity thrift is very important and essential. "Electricity thrift is to create a long-term energy source, contributing to raise competitive capacity and stimulate production development as well as improve quality of living", Nhon stressed.Launching emulation on electricity thriftThuan An Electricity Company in cooperation with mass bodies and quarters has launched the program of "cultural quarters involve in electricity thrift" by combining the mobilization of building civilized lifestyle and cultural families in residential areas with concrete requirements as follows: saving 10-50% of electricity from the past year, encouraging usage of energy-saved electric facilities, renovating technology and decreasing inessential lighting equipments and so on.Lai Thieu ward People's Committee vice chairman Le Van Cong said that since the Law on energy efficiency and conservation takes effect, the emulation movement on energy saving has spread strongly across quarters, businesses and families. In Lai Thieu ward, aside from the electricity sector's promulgation panels and photos, the locality has steered local radio stations to offer constantly information and guidance on energy saving to businesses and households.Nguyen Van Huu, vice director of the provincial department of Trade and Industry cum vice head of the provincial steering board of energy saving concluded "Electricity thrift includes a history of development along with the world's industrial development. Facing risks of climate change, requirement of energy saving has become more essential. The program on 'cultural quarters involve in electricity thrift' in attachment to the movement of all-people unite to build cultural living in residential areas has contained a very important significance on quality of living and production and simultaneously created an impetus to develop technology science and protect environment.
