Ethnic minority people in An Binh: Economic development, cultural improvement

With a constant faith on the Party and following the Party, ethnic minority people in Phu Giao district’s An Binh commune have reached changes in life. They have so far built up a civilized lifestyle, forming up advanced production ways towards a well-off life.

Paying attention to economic development

As being a locality crowded with ethnic minority people, especially a large number of Khmer ones in An Binh commune, Phu Giao district have made efforts to well realize central and provincial support policies for ethnic minority people. With the efforts by the local government, the lives of ethnic minority people in An Binh commune have been improved a lot.

The Party’s policies and the State’s laws are opportunely disseminated among ethnic minority people in Phu Giao district

Along with support policies, Suoi Dai resettlement area, which was built in 2004, has played a vital role in advocating ethnic minority people in An Binh commune to develop production models, helping them secure a stable life. Bui Thi Thuy Thom, Vice-Chairwoman of An Binh communal People’s Committee said that the commune now has a total of around 270 ethnic minority people, comprising of more than 170  Khmer ones. Over the past time, the commune’s Party and People’s Committee paid attention to taking care of the local ethnic minority people. Many policies on land grant, job creation, agricultural production training…have helped the local ethnic minority people escape poverty and rise up to get rich.

Ms.Thom added that together with support policies, the commune has had listened to aspirations of the local ethnic minority people via organizing dialogues with them in recent years. As of late 2018, the number of the local poor and near-poor ethnic minority households under the multi-dimensional poverty approach measurement only had 2 and 4 households, respectively.

Taking care of cultural life

Apart from support policies in economic development, An Binh commune has always paid attention to maintaining and upholding the cultural values of the local ethnic minority community, especially Khmer ethnic minority groups. Leaders of the commune and the district have created favorable conditions for the local ethnic minority people to organize their cultural festivals as well as preserving, developing the nation’s cultural values.

Mrs.Thom said that the district and the commune have always implemented propaganda programs on improving the cultural life of the local ethnic minority people, thereby contributing to positively changing their thought, awareness in building up an advanced lifestyle…

Possibly speaking, the lives of ethnic minority people in An Binh commune have had changes under the attention and support of the local authorities at all levels. They have also joined hands with residential communities to realize emulation movements, contributing to the local development.
