Farmers in Dau Tieng benefit from cow, buffalo development program

As an agricultural locality, in addition to promoting the development of rubber trees, Dau Tieng district has attached special importance to the animal husbandry

development. With the natural land area of more than 775km2 , Dau Tieng district has many favorable conditions for developing cow and buffalo herds. The district’s program of developing cow and buffalo herds has been promoted among the local farmers over the past five years.

Nguyen Tien Nghia, chairman of Long Tan communal Farmers’ Society said that the local steering board for the program has made efforts in promoting the program. Currently, the whole commune has 11 cow-breeding households with 120 cows.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Xuan Thai, chairman of Dinh Hiep communal Farmers’ Society said: “In recent years, the local breeders have felt cheerful as their products have been consumed with high prices. They have taken full advantage of the natural land area that could not grow rubber trees for growing grass to develop cow and buffalo herds. So far, the whole commune has had 12 breeding households with more than 740 cows and buffaloes.

As many as 6,631 households in the district have got loans to breed nearly 5,700 cows and buffaloes under the program. There have also appeared many outstanding households in the model of breeding cows and buffaloes, namely Nguyen Van Khuong, Mai Van Hung, Pham Van Khoi in Long Tan commune; Nguyen Van Ngoi, Phan Van Am in Dinh Hiep commune; Do Huu Phuoc in Thanh Tuyen commune; Luong Van Lang, Nguyen Van Tan in Dau Tieng township…

Possibly speaking, Dau Tieng district’s program to develop cow and buffalo herbs has brought positive impacts to the local agricultural sector, contributing to generating jobs for more than 4,390 laborers and helping 1,415 households free from poverty. The program has also contributed to promoting the movement of good farmers in production and business.
