The work of preventing drowning, accidents, and injuries; preventing abuse and violence against children is an issue that is currently of great concern not only to parents, teachers, and students but to society as a whole. Therefore, the provincial Youth Council has coordinated with the provincial Children's House to organize the 2024 Festival of Young Propaganda Teams regarding the Law on Children, drowning prevention, accident prevention, and the prevention of abuse and violence against children, with many practical and useful contents aimed at equipping the children and students with various knowledge and skills.
The festival of the Young Propaganda Teams on the Law on Children, drowning prevention, injury prevention, and child abuse and violence prevention this year has 7 competing teams with nearly 200 team members and teenagers participating. The competing teams participate in 2 parts: painting (for elementary and middle school levels) and propaganda skits. The colorful paintings associated with the festival theme were vividly expressed by the young artists, conveying many meaningful messages. In particular, the skit competition brought to the audience staged performances with stories that are close to everyday life and the current school environment, thereby warning of the potential risks of incidents and dangerous situations for children.
The performance competition of the Thuan An city Youth Union
The Di An Youth Union brought to the festival a skit about preventing school violence with meaningful content, along with the role-playing performances of the students that created many emotions for the audience. Pham Le Hoai My, the scriptwriter of the skit, shared that the skit presented at the festival is based on a true story about a victim of school violence. This person had a passion for singing, but after being a victim of school violence, they were affected psychologically, always feeling anxious and worried. Then, you were helped by your parents, friends, and teachers to step out of that darkness and return to a normal life. The story conveys the message to students to actively practice life skills, learn self-defense; if you witness any acts of violence, you should promptly report it to the school, teachers, or relevant authorities for timely intervention and handling.
The results in the theatrical content category are as follows: the first prize went to the Youth Union of Thuan An; the second prize went to the Youth Union of Di An; the third prize went to the Youth Union of Tan Uyen. The Organizing Committee also awarded the best propagandist prize to Le Kim Hieu from Phu Chanh Secondary School (Tan Uyen City); the best actor prize to Tran Huyen My from An Phu 3 Primary School (Thuan An City). I realize that violence not only affects physical health but also mental well-being, and schools must enhance their role in creating a safe and healthy environment for children.”
This year, the Youth Union of Thu Dau Mot brought a skit on the prevention of the harmful effects of tobacco and stimulants in the school environment. Nguyen Song Cat Tuong, Chu Van An Secondary School (Thu Dau Mot City), said: “Through this skit, I want to send a message to my friends that: We are at the age of students, a bright future is ahead, so we should not ruin our lives in cigarette smoke. Because, cigarettes harbor many dangerous diseases that threaten the health and lives of ourselves as well as those around us.”
Mr. Nguyen Phan Thai Anh, Director of the provincial Children's House and Vice Chairman of the provincial Team Council, stated: "The festival of young propagandists about the Law on Children, drowning prevention, injury prevention, and the prevention of child abuse and violence is an annual event that attracts a large number of young team members and teenagers to participate. It brings meaningful and practical results, contributing to the establishment of young propagandist teams in schools and in the community to help children understand and recognize the significance and necessity of accident and injury prevention, as well as protection against abuse, so that they can learn how to protect themselves and avoid the dangers around them.”
Through this festival, the Organizing Committee hopes that each member of the participating teams will become a young propagandist, working together to spread knowledge about the Law on Children as well as essential information on preventing accidents, drowning, and child abuse, in order to jointly maintain a safe and healthy school environment.
