Living with enemy
Receiving us in a small house on Ly Thuong Kiet road, Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city, Tran Quang Minh, 85, is still clairvoyant. He still remembers battles of yore in Loc Ninh, Bom Bo, Phuoc Long, Dong Xoai, Gia Nghia… He does not talk about himself but he only refers to his comrades and people. For him, they help him and organization fulfill all tasks.
In 1965, after the Military Zone 6’s establishment, Ba Minh was assigned to work at K59 under the zone 6. At the K59, he directly steered a team to grasp situation in Bu Na village resettlement (where the enemy asked people to cultivate and develop economy in a bid to prevent Vietnamese revolution’s penetration) to grasp information and urge the public to prepare for attacks for the sake of liberation of the area. Under his instruction, his comrades penetrated into the Bu Na village resettlement to meet people and directly urge them. Less than 2 months, his team grasped situation on all areas, setting up many reliable units.
After that, he suggested K59 and upper unit to offer more manpower in support of his team for the sake of soon liberation of the village resettlement.
On Dec. 20, 1964, Vietnamese soldiers defeated the enemy’s security forces and urged the public to rise in rebellion to liberate the village resettlement. Within one night, Bu Na 1 and 2 village resettlements were liberated. Meanwhile, Bu Na 3 village resettlement was liberated thanks to Ba Minh’s mobilization.
From experiences accumulated at Bu Na village resettlements, Ba Minh’s team developed to other village resettlements such as Duc Bon, Bu Rac, Vinh Thien, Gia Nghia (Dac Nong province of today) by mobilizing people to rise up. “We liberated ten thousand people along Road No.14. Till May, 1965 when Phuoc Long-Dong Xoai operation was opened, Vietnamese troop’s liberation zone was linked and extended from the War-base Đ to Cambodia’s border”, Ba Minh told.
Quashing a verdict
In his fighting life, Ba Minh had countless times to face enemies and risks. In late 60s, Ba Minh and his team urged people to open a meeting to destroy a reaction organization set up along Dong Nai river.
In 1972, he directly steered an inspection team to quash a reaction group in Bom Bo village. Successes of quashing reaction groups were thanks to mobilization. Similarly, other reaction groups established by the enemies were squashed by his team.
Joys
After the country’s liberation, Ba Minh worked for public security force until retirement. “I am really happy to receive the “Hero of People’s Armed Force” title”.
On the days of the year end, Ba Minh is busy with congratulation from his friends and comrades everywhere.
