Early preparation
At the Dinh Hoa Lacquer Painting Co., Ltd. (Thu Dau Mot city), dozens of workers are diligently carrying out the steps in the production process to timely supply products to the domestic market for the upcoming Lunar New Year. Mr. Truong Quang Tinh, the company's director, stated that in recent years, the consumption of lacquer products domestically during the Lunar New Year period has been 20-30% higher than the monthly average throughout the year. This year, the world situation has many fluctuations that have affected the export activities, so the company has placed many expectations on the domestic market, especially during holidays and Tet.
Mr. Ly Ngoc Bach, Chairman of the Binh Duong Ceramic Association, Director of Cuong Phat Ceramic Co., Ltd (Thuận An city), said that in recent times, the company has always developed in parallel with both the domestic and export markets. At this time, the company is both organizing production to complete orders for 2024 for foreign partners and negotiating contracts for 2025, while also increasing the supply of goods for the domestic market. For the domestic market, businesses are very interested in products serving the Lunar New Year. With a modern and fairly synchronized production line, along with the diversity of products, Cuong Phat Porcelain Co. Ltd. in particular and the Binh Duong porcelain industry in general completely meet the market's demand.
The common point worth noting is that businesses, lacquer and ceramic production facilities in the province not only focus on developing products, applying science and technology to production, but also actively build e-commerce channels, websites, social networking sites to promote the image of Binh Duong lacquer and ceramics, not only in Vietnam but also reaching out to the global market. The Lunar New Year is also the time when businesses actively introduce and sell products through e-commerce platforms and social networks.
Price and product diversity
The lacquer and ceramics industry are considered the soul of the handicraft arts, forming and developing over hundreds of years along with the development of Binh Duong, so the products contain the intelligence of the craftsmen, the cultural perspective of the ethnic group, and the characteristic materials of the products. Although the production processes of these two industries are different, the common point is that they mostly use local materials.
According to Mr. Le Ba Linh, Vice Chairman of the Binh Duong Lacquer Association, Director of Tu Bon Lacquer Company (Thu Dau Mot city), on the occasion of the traditional Tet festival of the nation, lacquer paintings of various ornamental flowers, homeland landscapes, calendar covers, flower vases, candy trays... are the main products of the lacquer industry. Depending on the production method of hand painting, printing technology, mass production or unique pieces, the selling prices vary between different product lines. Specifically, a lacquer painting created using the hand-drawing method is priced 2-3 times higher than a printed painting of the same size; a vase with hand-drawn patterns is priced much higher than a vase of the same size with patterns printed using technology.
Mr. Ly Ngoc Bach said that for the ceramics industry, the main products in the domestic market during the Tet holiday are sets of tableware designed in a pure Vietnamese style, flower vases, various sizes of flower pots, zodiac animals for each year... These products are consumed quite strongly in the month of Lunar New Year, so all production units have plans to increase the quantity of these products, while designing many models to meet the needs of customers. The ceramic production units in Binh Duong have a lot of experience and capability to create high-end ceramic masterpieces when the market demands.
For Cuong Phat Porcelain Co. Ltd., this year's exports are only about 50% of last year's, however, the company is focusing on developing strong product lines to supply the domestic market. Specifically, for the upcoming Lunar New Year, the company aims to increase revenue by at least 20% compared to the 2024 Lunar New Year.
Every Tet holiday comes and goes, every branch, every Vietnamese person has new expectations. For the ceramics and lacquerware industry in Binh Duong, they also expect that by 2025, the market and production conditions will be more favorable. The businesses themselves will focus on implementing enterprise management solutions, improving labor productivity, encouraging creativity, and ensuring income for workers. Thereon, the competitive capacity for the industry is enhanced, contributing to preserving and promoting the manufacturing industry with a strong Vietnamese cultural identity.
