Local Fund for the Poor takes care of social policy beneficiaries

Update: 08-05-2012 | 00:00:00

On the final days of historic April, provincial Steering Board of the Day for the Poor actively called for enterprises, organizations and individuals to share efforts with the local authorities in caring for poor people, especially social policy beneficiaries.

Sympathies

Pham Van Canh, chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) cum deputy head of provincial Steering Board of the Day for the Poor said that the province has always made efforts to well realize social welfare policies, but there are still many people in need of help. Hence, the Steering Board has called for enterprises, organizations and individuals to further make contributions to the local Fund for the Poor.

Visiting and presenting gifts to the poor

The local Fund for the Poor has also received sympathy from many enterprises, organizations and individuals. They are ready to give financial support to the fund in order to share efforts with the local authorities in taking care of poor people, especially social policy beneficiaries.

Ho Song Ngoc, deputy director of Dong A Corrugated Iron JSC said that his company is very happy when making contribution to the local social charity activities. Whilst, according to Pham Thi Kim Nga, director of Agribank’s Song Than branch, her branch raises money to the local social charity activities every year, including building unity houses, awarding scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils…

Timely help

One of the local Fund for the Poor’s significant activities is to build and hand over unity houses to the poor. Since early this year, provincial FFC has built and donate 82 unity houses worth VND30mln each to the poor.

Mr.Canh said that the local Fund for the Poor’s significant activity last historic April was to present necessary interior devices, including beds, altars, TVs, wardrobes…, to social policy beneficiary families.

Under a survey made by provincial FFC and provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs last year, there were 149 poor households in need of unity houses with a total expense of nearly VND4.5bln and 81 social policy beneficiary families in need of necessary interior equipment valued at nearly VND2bln.

Thanks to contributions by donors, the local Fund for the Poor has over time helped improve the lives of the local poor people. Especially, the fund’s program to donate necessary interior equipment to social policy beneficiary families has shown the moral principle of “When drinking water, remember its source”.
