Localities speed up completion of new rural criteria

Till 2013, Binh Duong will have 5 communes reaching new rural criteria including Dau Tieng district’s Thanh An, Tan Uyen’s Bach Dang, Ben Cat’s Chanh Phu Hoa, Phu Giao’s Tan Long and Thuan An town’s An Son. The province targets to reach over 40% of communes winning new rural criteria by 2015 and 100% by 2020. At present, aside from pilot communes, other communes have strived to build plans on socio-economic development according to criteria on new rural building.

Bach Dang commune’s determination

Tan Uyen district’s Bach Dang commune has had 11 years of implementing new rural building program, so the local administration has determined to reach new rural criteria by 2013.

At present, the commune has won 8 out of 19 criteria including accommodation, poor household, labor structure, education, health, environment, political system, social order and security. Bach Dang communal economy has eyed trade-service, agriculture, industry-handicraft, rate of local households using clean water and electricity wins 100% and so on. Pham Van Hoang, chairman of the communal People’s Committee, said local people have responded the program over years by granting land, money and labor for the process of traffic infrastructure building.

Bui Thi Ly, vice head of Tan Uyen district steering board of new rural building said that the district’s pilot communes have completed building of program management system and ratification of new rural commune planning. Bach Dang alone will finalize additional 4-5 criteria, the remaining ones will be completed by 2013.

Tan Long speeding up

Phu Giao district’s Tan Long commune is one among 3 communes chosen as pilot localities of new rural program since 2008 and is a locality to be won new rural commune by 2013. Until now, Tan Long has won 10 out of 19 criteria and 26 out of 29 targets. In the coming time, the commune will strive to reach criteria of planning, a 3% decline of poor household rate, a VND24mil income per capita per year, over 40% of trained laborers and among others.

Khong Van Cuong, chairman of the communal People’s Committee cum head of the communal management board of new rural building said that the communal management board cooperated with other boards to hold meetings on disseminating criteria for people. Through the meetings, people have responded the program positively.

With clear criteria and concrete roadmap, the new rural program’s pilot communes have sped up to perfect criteria and maintain done criteria. Local people’s hi-unity plus high determination will be a foundation for communal administrations to complete the program.
