To actively propose solutions
Nguyen Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong Furniture Association, said that due to the general difficulties of the global economy, during last months of 2022, the timber industry also faced great challenges. Most businesses had problems with input costs, such as: petroleum, logistics, coating chemicals, etc. leading to very high production costs. However, enterprises actively made contingency plans to minimize risks and damages, take advantage of opportunities to promote production and business activities in the coming time. Currently, the wood processing industry is also having a chance to recover again when their main export market, the United States, is gradually stabilizing. Enterprises in this industry are developing samples to be ready for new orders.
In January 2023, Binh Duong focused on implementing socio-economic development tasks; all levels, branches, and localities closely followed the direction and administration of the Government and provincial leaders to effectively fulfil the set targets and plans. With the involvement of Party committees, governments, and efforts of enterprises in the province, industrial production has been sustained and gradually recovered. Many key solutions have been implemented synchronously and drastically, and energize production business activities to achieve the plans set out in 2023.
Besides the achieved results, socio-economic development tasks in the first months of the year still had some limitations. Namely, Index of Industrial Production (IIP) decreased compared to the same period last year. In addition, in January 2023, the number of production business days of enterprises decreased, hence import and export turnover was estimated to decrease compared to the previous month and the same period last year.
In order to continue creating a stronger change in the business environment, improve competitiveness, contribute to the successful implementation of goals and tasks in 2023, and timely support enterprises to restore and develop production business, Provincial People's Committee set forth 11 groups of key tasks and solutions in 2023. In which, to closely follow resolutions of the Central Committee, Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee make the best efforts and determination to implement the plan with the motto "Unity, discipline; bravery, flexibility; proactive and creative; timely and effective”.
To improve competitiveness
The key goal in 2023 is to effectively implement Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW dated October 7th, 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Southeast region until 2030, and resolutions, action programs to implement the 11th Provincial Party Resolution. To further accelerate the socio-economic recovery and development, facilitate growth on the basis of digital transformation and digital economy, and ensure great balances of the economy; accelerate economic restructuring in association with renovating the growth model, improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness; mobilize maximum resources to accelerate investment in infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, as a premise for sustainable development of Binh Duong.
In 2023, the volume of public investment to be disbursed of Binh Duong is very large, while this rate in 2022 was not as high as expected. The province is trying to remove the "bottlenecks" to speed up the disbursement of public investment capital and stimulate socio-economic development. In addition to continuing transitional projects of 2022, the province is preparing to execute some new construction projects in 2023 as planned, such as: Ring Road 3 Ho Chi Minh City, section through Binh Duong province; an underpass at the intersection in Phuoc Kien; Binh Duong Provincial Sports Training Center…
Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, said that with specific solutions, the province is making efforts to implement many central and local policies to accompany and support businesses. In the 2023 socio-economic development program, the province continues to promote administrative reform, build infrastructure, cultivate high-quality human resources, and create an attractive business environment for investors. In particular, the province focuses on main tasks and solutions to improve the business environment and enhance national competitiveness in order to adapt to the Fourth Industrial Revolution development trend and heighten the resilience of the economy.
“The determination of the whole province to perform the sustainable growth goal is the way to turn difficulties and challenges into opportunities into stronger development in 2023 and in the future”, emphasized Vo Van Minh.
In 2023, Provincial People's Committee identified 32 key targets. Namely, total investment in social development will increase by 11%; index of industrial production (IIP) will increase by over 8.7%; export turnover will increase by 9-10%; import turnover will increase by 9-10%; total state budget revenue will reach 74,617 billion VND; total budget expenditure will reach 23,273 billion VND; total retail sales of consumer goods and services will increase by 15%; FDI capital attraction will reach over 1.8 billion USD…
