Nguyen Van Huu, vice director of the provincial Department of Trade and Industry cum vice head of the provincial steering board of electricity thrift program, said “We have done things relating to electricity thrift and launched guidance of implementing power thrift in state agencies and families as well as set up lists of key electricity using facilities… but saved power output remains low”.

A survey of implementing electricity thrift and safety at 17 state agencies and public units showed that most of the units have yet to register measures of electricity usage. Some units explained their restrictions such increases on employees, electricity equipments for new headquarters and so on.

To economize 10% of consumed electricity output in 2012, it is necessary to promulgate electricity thrift programs to people. This is a difficult work because it will trigger a breakage of architecture or equipment.

To implement the program, Binh Duong Electricity Company has implemented many various programs. “To encourage people to eliminate bulbs, the company in 2011 changed nearly 20,000 compact lights for people. In this year, the company will help the poor enjoy the energy-saving lights”, said Chau Quoc Bao, head of Binh Duong Electricity Company’s business department.
