From now to the end of 2021, the agricultural sector must both ensure Covid-19 prevention and control and maintain and restore production to avoid disrupting the supplying chains of agricultural products and food. Currently, the province's agricultural sector has implemented many solutions to build "green zones" to maintain production, business and product consumption activities and to ensure the growth target in 2021 in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic.

To stablize production

In response to the Covid-19 epidemic, the agricultural sector as well as localities in the province have implemented many solutions to ensure uninterrupted farming, harvesting and processing activities by building "green zones of  agriculture". In particular, farms, businesses and cooperatives have actively maintained production and business by many options such as implementing "3 on the spot" and opening more sales channels.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Quyet, Director of Kim Long Hi-tech Agriculture Cooperative at An Binh commune in Phu Giao district), said that in order to maintain production and supply goods for customers, the cooperative has built a "green zone" to ensure  production activities. Specifically, the cooperative is divided into two groups: a group of workers who stay on the farm to work while ensuring Covi-19 prevention and control, 1 outside group works only for delivery. "The cooperative continues to boost production to meet the ordering needs of supermarkets and convenience stores with a monthly output of 50 tons of cantaloupe," said Mr. Quyet.

Mr. Tran Minh Thanh, Director of Dong Thuan Phat Agricultural Cooperative at Thuong Tan commune of Bac Tan Uyen district), said that the unit still maintains maximum production capacity and is proposing to authorities to create more favorable conditions for the transportation and circulation of goods to the markets. Mr. Le Thanh Tam, Deputy Head of Economic Department of Ben Cat town, said the town has directed mass organizations in the area to join hands to support the consumption of agricultural products. On the other hand, the town also focuses on guiding people to produce according to the needs of the market to ensure the supply of agricultural products for consumers, especially at the end of the year.

According to the leader of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the agriculture sector, in collaboration with other departments, branches and localities in the province have implemented many urgent measures to connect agricultural products with sales channels, distribution, and selling points of necessities to serve people. Up to now, 57 mobile sales points have been deployed to rotating 10-15 points per day. Daily supply is about 6 tons of vegetables and fruits, 300 - 350kg of meat, and 27,000 eggs for 1 point of sales. At the same time, coordination is made to organize mobile sales trips with stable prices in districts, towns and cities in the province.

Flexible to ensure supplies

In the last months of 2021, the epidemic situation is forecasted to have many complicated developments by negatively affecting the production, circulation and consumption of agricultural products as well as the supply of raw materials and materials for production. In addition, in the coming time, many agricultural products will be in season, so there would be a risk of oversupply in production areas.

Faced with this situation, the agricultural sector must both ensure disease prevention and control and maintain and restore production to avoid disrupting the supplying chains of agricultural products and food. Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has directed the Sub-Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection and specialized agencies to promptly inform about the import market, so that enterprises and cooperatives with exported products can promptly adjust their production plans as well such as building appropriate consumption plans, and at the same time flexibly deploying consumption solutions.

Mr. Pham Van Bong, said that in order to continue to maintain the development of agricultural production, support producers as well as ensure the supply of essential agricultural products and food in the province, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with the People's Committee of the province, districts, towns, cities, departments and branches implement many contents. Regularly it monitors and updates the situation of agricultural production in the locality to assess the area, output, harvest season, supply capacity and demand for consumption and to review the ability of freezing, cold storage and preservation of agricultural products in the area. Coordination is made with Department of Industry and Trade to balance the demand and supply capacity of essential items to propose a plan to mobilize supply from other localities.
