March in border areas

“March in border areas" program is one of activities to implement the "I love my country" movement, which was launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union in March every year. Standing Committee of Provincial Youth Union and union branches have carried out activities of “March in border areas" program to promote the volunteer and pioneer role of the youth.

"The Frontier of My Country"

In 2022, the program "March in border areas " themed "Borders of my country" was launched by the Central Committee of Vietnam Youth Federation from March 1 to March 31. This is one of the key activities to celebrate the 91st anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26th 1931 - March 26th 2022). Therefore, the Provincial Youth Federation and Provincial Youth Union directed 100% youth organizations in districts, towns and cities to carry out propagation activities to raise young people’s awareness of national borders and islands; to show the spirit of sharing difficulties with disadvantaged areas and pay tribute to soldiers at the borders.

For propagation activities, Youth Union at all levels encourage students and youth union members to properly express their patriotism and opinions about issues and events related to border sovereignty. The dissemination work has been carried out in many forms by holding conferences, trainings, contents in activities of youth union branches, developing and making publications, leaflets, folding sheets, posters, pictures, infographics, photo albums, video clips, short films...

In addition, District-level Youth Unions and Youth Unions directly under Provincial Youth Union organized activities to visit and thank soldiers on duty at border posts, activities to help and support poor children, give gifts to disadvantaged families, and organize free medical examinations, give free medicines to people at border areas...

Together with other provinces and cities to simultaneously implement the “March in border areas" program under the direction of the Central Committee of Vietnam Youth Federation, Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Police’s Youth Union organized a journey named "For the borders of the Fatherland" in 2022 in Loc Thien commune, Loc Ninh District.

Tran Bao Lam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: "Based on the plan of "March in border areas", Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Police’s Youth Union organized a journey with meaningful activities to share difficulties with disadvantaged people in border areas. During this journey, Provincial Youth Union presented 100 schoolbags to students, who overcome difficulties to study well, in Loc Ninh district with a total value of VND 50 million; at the same time, coordinated with Medic Binh Duong General Hospital to organize free health examinations and consultations, distribute free medicines and old glasses to more than 200 people in the district, and gave gifts to 10 poor households.

In addition, Provincial Youth Union also visited and presented gifts to support the Covid-19 prevention control at border posts of Loc Thien and Loc Thanh communes in Loc Ninh District, and to officials and soldiers of Loc Thien Commune Police. On this occasion, Provincial Youth Union offered incense and flowers, learned about the history of Ta Thiet Monument. This program will continue to enhance propagation activities of Youth Union on volunteer work, social security in order to express thoughts and feelings of young people about soldiers who have day and night protected the borders, and educate young people today on revolutionary tradition and patriotism."

To continue upholding the volunteer spirit

To implement the program "March in border areas", Youth Union of Provincial Agencies and Enterprises’ bloc also performed volunteer activities at Dak No border guard station, Bu Gia Fat District, Binh Phuoc Province. The Youth Union carried out a project to give 15 gifts to soldiers and a set of desktop computers,  one printer to the station.

Di An City Youth Union also held a program in Binh Phuoc Province. At this program, Youth Union, HYPO’s Council, and Youth Federation of the city visited Phu Nghia Primary School (Bu Gia Map District) and presented 30 schoolbags, 2,000 notebooks, 60 boxes of Orion cakes, 30 gifts of necessities, 30 Vinut boxes, and 200 sets of clothes to disadvantaged students and people in the district, with a total value of more than 90 million VND. On this occasion, the City Youth Union also visited soldiers of Dac Ka border guard station, and presented a water purifier, 5,000 medical masks, 150 bottles of hand sanitizer, 30 Vinut boxes and cash to soldiers on duty at the station, with a total cost of more than VND50 million.

Lam Hoang Thuy Trang, Secretary of Di An City Youth Union, said: "This is an annual activity of the City Youth Union for our twinning unit Dac Ka border guard station - Binh Phuoc Province. The activity is to connect Di An City youth and soldiers at Dac Ka border post. This activity further spreads the meaning of national borders, seas and islands in the strategy of national sovereignty protection; develop the volunteer spirit of young people in building the country, socio-economic development, national defense and security, and strengthening relations with people in border areas."
