Market fairs bringing joy to rural areas

A market fair bringing Vietnamese commodities to rural areas was just held in Long Hoa Commune of Dau Tieng District not only to enable accessibility of domestic commodities to rural markets but also to offer people in rural areas opportunities of purchasing Vietnamese commodities of assured quality and reasonable prices.

Quality and reasonable priced commodities

The fair with participation of 15 enterprises introduced 44 displaying stalls of commodities and services in various models and of high quality including processed foods, domestic equipment, electronic appliances and other necessities of lower prices than market prices. Majority of the stalls offered discounted commodities with promotion and gifts.

Our observation showed that the market fair attracted majority of the public at Long Hoa Commune and neighboring localities, visiting and shopping. Nguyen Van Giang at Long Dien Hamlet of Long Hoa Commune said that various commodities at the fair are not actually available at local market places including processed foods, domestic appliances, and regional delicacies. As those commodities are of reasonable prices and assured quality, he has purchased plenty of them for long-term use. More importantly, the commodities at the fair have been free from fakes or low quality and origin. All have been assured of food safety and hygiene, suitable for consumers in rural area.

According to Phan Hong Xinh, Deputy Chair of Long Hoa Commune People’s Committee, the market fair has been the opportunities for farmers to know more about quality commodities produced and supplied by domestic enterprises to prioritize more use of Vietnamese commodities. Local authorities also hope that more fairs introducing Vietnamese commodities to rural areas will be organized for the time to come.

Enterprises are to expand their market

To service purchase needs of local people, the participating enterprises in the cause of bringing Vietnamese commodities to rural areas have been prepared with rich supply of commodities including processed foods, garments, domestic appliances, and cosmetics. Pham Van Hung, a representative of Co.Op Mart Binh Duong I said that the supermarket offered 80 necessity commodities to service local people. By preparation of rich commodity supply of diversified ranges and assured quality and 20-40% discounts, attracting many people to purchase.

Aside from enterprises in Binh Duong Province at the fair, many were from Tay Ninh, Ben Tre, and Vung Tau. Nguyen The Phung, a representative of Thanh Long Coconut Candy Establishment in Ben Tre said: “I am so glad that this time market fair has attracted plenty of people visiting and purchasing. Although the fair was open in the evening, many have got to the fair in the afternoon. This encouraged enterprises to continue with participation into the fairs and introduce Vietnamese commodities of high quality and at preferential prices.”

Attending the fairs, enterprises aside from revenue increasing needs have introduced their images and products to consumers while investigating the commodity consumption in rural areas for their accurate assessments of regional and local needs and construction of strategic production and distribution to improve their rural market share.

Aside from their own efforts, enterprises at the market fair have been supported by various agencies. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Trinh, Director of Binh Duong Provincial Center for Trade Promotion and Economic Information, said that the center has coordinated with local authorities to launch the market fair thoroughly from invitation to preparation and information dissemination. As the matter of fact, many enterprises and majority of the public have been attracted to the fairs which are helpful for affirming high quality of Vietnamese commodities in rural market. Those market fairs are also contributing to constructing sustainable market, creating trust of local people to Vietnamese commodities.
