“Men are the fulcrum” club bound for an equal society

The Women’s Union of My Phuoc township in Ben Cat district has just established the club “Men are fulcrum for women to well fulfill social activities”. The birth of the club aims to affirm the role of women in the national industrialization and modernization period.

Although living in different circumstances, all members of the club have the same thought of learning to become the fulcrum for their beloved women. They have sat together for sharing experience in building happy families. Discussions frequently mentioned by them are how to help their wives do housework, take part in social activities and many other tasks in the national integration and development period…

 

Most of the members of the club’s executive board are men with 25 members. The main activities of the club are to disseminate the Law on Marriage and Families, the Law on Gender Equality…, especially women’s tasks in the industrialization and modernization period; enhance women’s position, execute gender equality in all fields; create favorable conditions for women to well realize their roles as mothers, wives and to be good citizens for the society.

 

Nguyen Thi Hong Nghia, vice-chairwoman of My Phuoc township’s Women’s Union said that the executive board of the club has found it difficult to mobilize people to take part in activities launched by it. But, the club has still made efforts for existence and development with the goal of building an equal society, happy families; taking care of women’s lives, creating favorable conditions for women to affirm themselves.

 

Along with the above-mentioned club, My Phuoc township’s Women’s Union have developed many other effective models on helping each other in economic development, building compassionate houses, preventing crimes, converting wrongdoers…The local Women’s Union in the first half of the year also made successful conciliation for three cases in which women suffered from family violence. Through the dissemination work made by the club, some husbands herein have had changes in their lifestyle and pledged to be members of the club.
