North Tan Uyen district was founded on April 1, 2014. Despite its new establishment, the locality has developed in right way, making premise for solid development in the subsequent years.

Agriculture plays a great role
Nguyen Ngoc Hiep, chairman of North Tan Uyen district People’s Committee said that as a newly-established district, North Tan Uyen district leaders considers agriculture as an important sector for local economic growth. Accordingly, rubber is a key kind of tree for local residents.
Recently, the local economy has faced many difficulties, owing to decrease on rubber latex price. However, with determination and effort of the whole politic system and people, local socio-economy has reached remarkable results on all areas.
Local economic structure continues to develop in right way of agro-forestry, industry, trade-service with a fair growth, contributing to stabilize people’s life. Accordingly, the local economic growth pace reached 11.14% in the past year; agro-forestry structure accounted for 47.59%; industry 29.51%; service 22.9%; average income of VND66.2mil per capita per year, winning 100% of the district People’s Council’s Resolution.
In addition, the local budget collection was estimated at VND526.500bil in the previous year, winning 113% of the provincial estimate and 106% of the district estimate.
As for local value of agricultural production, farming industry accounts for 85.23%. Accordingly, rubber and fruit trees bring main income for local people. Over the past years, the district has accelerated application tech-science into agricultural production, especially citrus trees. Among 28,000ha of agricultural land in the locality, about 1,200ha are for citrus trees, planted along to Dong Nai River, Be River and Hieu Liem commune.
Aside from agriculture, North Tan Uyen district now homes to 9 cooperatives relating to production and business, bringing income of VND42mil per year for members; 7 cooperation teams involving in farming and breeding; 109 farms gathered mainly in the Northern area. Production and business of cooperatives and cooperation teams are stable relatively.
Lam Thanh Tham, the owner of citrus tree garden in Chanh Hung hamlet, Hieu Liem commune said that on the 50ha area, he plants orange and tangerine and 13 ha of which has been under harvest with 30-40 tons per crop. He annual reaps about VND500mil from this citrus garden.
North Tan Uyen district has eyed to build trademark for its products in a bid to improve products’ value. Apart from developing orchards, the locality will focus on developing eco-tourism in the future. In the coming time, North Tan Uyen district will spur transfer and application advanced technology into production to enhance productivity; simultaneously continue to carry out agricultural, tech-science projects under launching. Additionally, the locality will invest in technical infrastructure facility in service for developing citrus tree areas in Hieu Liem commune and often open training classes on agricultural promotion and more.
Focusing on basic construction
In order to create a motivation for economic development and new image for rural areas, North Tan Uyen district has concentrated on basic construction and traffic development. Some key projects are under construction and ensure their progress.
Specifically, the district administration center project has completed detailed planning; works on expanded road from Tan Loi Bridg to Tan Thanh T-junction, Tan Thanh clinic and other works are under construction.
Nguyen Ngoc Hiep said that the 6-lane project of building a road from Muoi Muon T-junction to Tan Thanh, capitalized at over VND764bil and DT746, DT747B are key routes, connecting the locality with other economic regions, making up am impetus for local economic development.
At present, the district People’s Committee has steered specialized agencies to focus on solving difficulties and disseminating, mobilizing local people to support these projects.
In the past year, the locality had 51 projects in total. The district concentrated on hastening progress of projects. In the end of 2014, the locality disbursed VND123,389bil, winning 100% of its plan. The district also set up an overall planning on local socio-economic development till 2025.
Apart from perfecting investment procedures for building North Tan Uyen district resettlement area, hastening progress of D warbase memorial area, the locality will in the coming time cooperate with relevant departments and agencies to upgrade DT746 road from Tan Thanh T-junction to DT747B, carry out work on compensation and support for resettlement.
Moreover, the local administration has mapped out upgrading, maintaining roads and steered communes to finalize construction of rural traffic works in 2015.
It is hoped that economic development in right way will bring a new image for North Tan Uyen district.
