North Tan Uyen marks VGCL’s 87th founding anniversary

*136 scholarships awarded to needy workers’ offspring

Early July 7, North Tan Uyen district’s Labor Union held a get-together to mark the 87^th founding anniversary of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) (July 28) and sum up its activities in the first half of 2016.

At the get-together, delegates reviewed the tradition of the VGCL during the past 87 years. Reportedly, the district’s Labor Union over the past six months presented 2,754 gifts to civil servants and workers with extremely difficult circumstances on Tet and great holidays with a total expense of more than VND610million; gave 20 gifts worth VND10million for workers hit by workplace accidents; provided free medical check-ups and medicine for 147 needy young workers. Many cultural-sports activities for laborers in the province were also organized.

*The same day, Ben Cat district-based Industrial Parks’Trade Union held a conference to review its activities in the first half of 2016.

The Trade Union in collaboration with Investment Service Consulting Joint Stock Company (ISC) and provincial Support Center for Young Laborers offered jobs to more than 2,000 laborers…over the past six months.

On this occasion, the Trade Union also awarded 136 scholarships worth VND500,000 each to needy workers’ offspring with good academic results in the 2015-2016 academic year.
