Offering help to women in economic development

New models set up

 

One of the effective measures to help women increase their income is to give them stable jobs. Realizing this, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels have always attached special importance to establishing many new models in order to generate jobs for women. 

Phu My ward’s charwomen club launched

 In 2011, provincial Women’s Union implemented a pilot model on family service in Thuan An town’s Lai Thieu ward and TDM town’s Phu My ward. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, chairwoman of Phu My ward’s Women’s Union said that after its three-month inception, the local Women’s Union’s charwomen club has worked very well. Its members have always tried their utmost to work and got stable income…

 

Dang Thi Mong Tuyen, vice-chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union said: “To help women improve their workmanship and become professional charwomen, provincial Women’s Union will open training courses on professional family service, especially give priority to members of the family service clubs.

 

Providing loans…

 

Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels last year helped nearly 13,000 turns of women get a total loan of VND83bln.

 

Through many forms, provincial Women’s Union at all levels mobilized 6,764 well-off women to provide more than VND21bln in loan for 11,594 turns of women; maintained 1,082 credit groups with 21,213 members with nearly VND11bln saved. The local Bank for Social Policies also considered and provided nearly VND47bln for 4,679 households.

 

Noticeably, thanks to the above loan sources and other many support measures, there were 1,745 female-headed households free from poverty.

 

According to Mrs.Tuyen, in addition to loan-supporting programs, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels will promote new models to help women reduce poverty and prevent poverty again; boost vocational training and job creation for rural women, especially those who live in the projected areas; implement the project of “Supporting women to get vocational training”.

 

They will also team up with provincial Cooperatives’ Alliance to organize training courses for officials and members to raise their awareness of the role of collective economy; opened training courses on cooperative models in business and production; promote the development of the safe vegetable growing model; guide experience in transferring sci-tech advancements in animal husbandry, cultivation, production and business.

 

Such these apart, they will cooperate with provincial Bank for Social Policies and Steering Board for Poverty Reduction and Employment Creation to open training courses on how to control over loan sources and poverty-reducing skills for officials while making inspection tour of the management of loan sources.
