Opinions on urban agricultural development project by 2020 to be collected

Morning Dec 16, provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a meeting to discuss the urban agricultural development project of Binh Duong southern area until 2020. Mai Hung Dung, Deputy Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee, chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, HCMC Agricultural Planning and Design Institute proposed solutions for urban agricultural development in Binh Duong southern area until 2020 in order to create an ecological environment, supply agricultural services to agriculture and rural areas, contributing to the economic restructuring at the locality, exploiting available resources in urban areas.

Accordingly, the estimated total value of agricultural production of provincial southern area until 2020 would reach VND3,783 billion. Specifically, establishing safe and clean vegetables production areas with high-tech applications with a scale of around 300-310 hectares by 2020; developing various ornamental plants and things to reach 160-170 hectares by 2020; forming and upgrading safety vegetable products to meet urban demands for safe vegetables with clear origin.

Speaking at the meeting, Mai Hung Dung, Deputy Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee, said the project needed more specific targets. He also urged units, localities to have specific comments, solutions corresponding to the reality, development goals. Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant units continued to discuss and complete the project to submit to PPC.
