Paying a visit to heroic land

Sixty-seven years ago, a daring attack led by revolutionary soldier Tran Cong An into the watch-tower of Ba Kien bridge, where now belongs to Tan Uyen town’s Thanh Phuoc ward, opened up a new method of attack, creating the premise for the birth of commando. In war time, Thanh Phuoc was an important strategic position, the southern gateway of the War Zone D. Being proud of the local historical tradition, Thanh Phuoc’s Party, government and people have made efforts in creating a new image of the heroic land.

Thanh Phuoc today is changing day by day with industrialization and urbanization covered. Le Thi Ut, Secretary of Thanh Phuoc ward’s Party Committee said: “The ward is now home to 56 firms, generating stable jobs for the local laborers and more than 2,500 immigrants. Basic construction works have been built to perfect the local infrastructure for evolution. The ward has also focused on planning task for urban development in the coming time. Regarding agricultural production, the local authorities at all levels have organized training courses on sci-tech transfer for farmers, built up modern models with hi-economic efficiency”.

Also according to Mrs.Ut, under the Party leadership, Thanh Phuoc’socio-economic performance has got more thriving with stability in industrial and agricultural production; value of industrial production and services maintained and reaching annual growth. The spiritual and material lives of the local people have been improved.

Thanks to the attention and help of the local authorities at all levels, many households have successfully developed effective models. Thanh Phuoc heroic land is also now home to hi-tech based agricultural models like those of growing orchid, breeding mother cows, planting safe vegetables…, helping improve the local people’s lives.

Nguyen Tuan Khanh, Head of Du Khanh quarter where the victory statue of Ba Kien bridge watch-tower stands proudly under sunlight said that in implementation of the ward’s urban construction program between 2011 and 2015, the hamlet’s executive board has mobilized locals and donors to get involved in the program via funding construction of rural roads. In 2014, the hamlet carried out 2 roads of 1,701 meters with more than VND108mln in cost mobilized from locals. The hamlet’s executive board also mobilized proprietors and 231 households to register for waste treatment as stipulated. Besides, the branches of the hamlet’s Veterans Society and Women’s Union promoted the movement of “helping each other in economic development” among members.

According to Mrs.Ut, the ward’s Fatherland Front Committee and other mass organizations have opportunely implemented policies on socio-economic development put forward by the local Party Committee and received enthusiastic response from locals. Along with the heroic tradition, consensus among people is a decisive condition for the ward to promote its socio-economic development, keeping with the province’s growth in the coming time.
