Phu Giao district has been re-established for 10 years from Phuoc Thanh district. Through the two terms of party congress, Phu Giao of today has changed significantly. Phu Giao district’s 3rd party congress resolutions have just been ratified to take the locality to a new development period.

Hi-tech agriculture development

Phu Giao district’s 3rd party congress resolutions affirmed to invest in building rural infrastructure structure according to the Resolution No.26-NQ/TW on agriculture, farmer and rural area. Accordingly, till the end of the 2010-2015 term, the district will strive to reach the goal of building new rural areas at more than 30% of communes and townships. The locality will reinforce agricultural promotion, apply hi-tech measures into agricultural production, and implement hi-tech agricultural models.

At present, the district has developed 2 models of hi-tech agricultural models, bringing remarkable results. In the coming time, the locality will continue adjusting, adding specialized areas, exploiting natural resources to increase its economic efficiency, to expand animal husbandry according to the industrial and semi-industrial models.

In terms of targets relating to agriculture, farmer and rural area, Phu Giao strives to reach a rate of 25 telephones per 100 residents, 99.5% of households using power, 100% of households accessible to clean water and to decline 2.5-3.5% of poor households per year.

Orientations for industrial development

Industrial development for the locality is now at a start. However, Phu Giao has also had many advantages of industrial development, especially processing industry in combination with agricultural production.

The district’s resolutions are to develop industry based on agricultural development. The locality will therefore focus on creating favorable conditions to lure economic sectors’ investments. Accordingly, the district gives a priority to processing industry of farm produce and food, mineral exploitation industry.

In the coming time, the locality will zone and develop 2 industrial parks. Besides, its most important thing is to train high quality human resources to join in rural industrialization and modernization.

Based on its resolutions, the district strives to reach a density of 38%, 33% and 29% for agriculture, industry and service, respectively.

The district’s 3rd party congress resolutions will be a new vitality to take it to a new development period. However, the district secretary Tran Binh Son said “setting out right orientations and instructions is a very important thing, but more importantly, taking resolutions to real life is a crucial thing. This is an urgent and heavy task”.

With the high determination at the past congress, it is hoped that the locality will excel the proposed goals.
