Phu Giao takes good care of policy beneficiary families

Phu Giao district is now home to more than 2,070 policy beneficiaries and those who rendered service to the nation. Among them, there are 3 Vietnamese heroic mothers, 230 martyrs, 247 wounded soldiers, 78 sick soldiers…

Despite difficulties, Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee and Party Committee have implemented many activities to take care of the lives of the local policy beneficiaries, well expressing the moral principles of “When drinking water, remember its source”, “When eating a fruit, think of the person who planted the tree”. This has showed gratitude to those who gave their lives in the cause of national independence.

Vo Thanh Phu, staff of Phu Giao district’s Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) said that on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs, the district’s DoLISA has acted as advisor for the district’s People’s Committee to build and donate 3 gratitude houses to the local needy policy beneficiaries with total expense of VND200mln, upgrade 1 gratitude house with total expense of VND20mln; mobilized donors and extracted the local State budget to visit and present more than 400 gifts worth more than VND320mln to the families of war invalids, martyrs and those who rendered service to the nation.

Along with gift visits from the district’s leaders, the district’s People’s Committee has issued a document requiring the People’s Committees of communes and township to mobilize donors and extract the local State budget to present gifts to policy beneficiaries and organize get-togethers on the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, which should be implemented in accordance with the real situation of each locality. Under the spirit, localities, from July 25 to 27, organized delegations to visit and offer gifts for policy beneficiary families and those who rendered service to the nation.

Mass organizations at all levels also took care of policy beneficiary families via many significant activities, including tidying up houses, burning incense to commemorate heroes and martyrs, organizing a candle-lighting ceremony to show gratitude to heroes and martyrs at district’s martyrs’ cemetery on the evening of July 26…

Over the past years, Phu Giao district’s Party, government and people well realized policies of “paying debt of gratitude”, contributing to improving the lives of the local policy beneficiary families. As of late 2012, there were only 9 out of 2,078 policy beneficiary families and national contributors with difficulties. 100% of war invalids, martyrs’ families and national contributors with monthly allowances enjoyed living standards that were equal or higher than the average living standards of the local people. Particularly, there were 229 well-off households or 33.87% of total, 271 households with moderately good living standards or 40.08% of total and 177 with medium level or 26.14% of total…
