Phu My ward Veteran Society bustling with rural road making movement

Update: 25-08-2010 | 00:00:00

Phu My ward Veteran Society is valued as one of units making many contributions to the rural road making movement in Thu Dau Mot town. Upholding Uncle Ho’s soldiers’ heroic virtue, the ward veterans positively join in the movement.

At present, the entire ward has had 81 members, positively joining in local revolutionary movements, especially infrastructure facility building and urban rejuvenation.

Many rural routes in Phu My ward are expanded.

Visiting to the ward, visitors will see clean, wide and beautiful rural roads. Some routes are under construction. The routes show significance of land offering from local veterans over time.

Voluntarily offering land and trees to expand rural roads has been conducted by local veterans over years. In 2009, the ward veteran society repaired and upgraded 3 rural traffic works, luring the participation of over 140 members and making profit of over VND20mil. Besides, the society has mobilized members to offer land worth over VND1.2bil to expand routes.

Since the start of this year, in response to urban rejuvenation program, the society has mobilized members and the public to upgrade the DX027 route in the 1st quarter. This is an exemplary route under management of the society. Moreover, the society has mobilized members to contribute land to upgrade 7 others worth over VND1.1bil.

Huynh Van Truong, chairman the ward society, said “When the State launches instructions of making rural roads, we have mobilized members to join in the movement. Overall, the society’s members are aware of common interests of the movement”. For example, Nguyen Van Ho, a member of the society offered over 50sqm of land to expand a route. Similarly, Nguyen Van Khiem also contributed about 30sqm of land to expand rural roads.

Possibly speaking, in the market-oriented economy period every square meter of land is very valuable, but local veterans are ready to contribute tens of square meters of land to road expansion. Their good deed is very respectful.
