Positive signal for breeders

Update: 18-12-2012 | 00:00:00

Possibly speaking, 2012 is a sad year for breeders. Information on using banned chemicals in pig breeding influenced badly on other breeding households. In addition, purchasing power decreased along, influencing on selling price of pork products.

Also, breeders had to encounter disease epidemics on cattle and poultry. As such, in the mid-2012, price of pork products plunged sharply at VND30,000 per kg. With this selling price, many pig breeders suffered a big loss. While the price of pork products decreased strongly, animal feed’s price still increased, decreasing the number of cattle and poultry herds in the province.

Until now, pork price in the province has increased again. In some localities, many traders purchase pig at VND45,000-46,000 per kg. The main reason of the price hike lies in the rising demand. This is a positive signal for breeders in the year-end.

Phung Van Thuc, the pig breeder in Tam Lap commune, Phu Giao district, said decrease in pig prices and increase in animal feed price and disease epidemic triggered big losses for breeders. To maintain production, my family only raised pigs with the small quantity. The positive signal of pork prices increases breeders’ hope in compensating the past losses.

Along with the pig price increase, prices of poultries sky-rockers along. At present, price of industrial chicken is at VND35,000 per kg and is increasing gradually.

Tran Thanh Co, the owner of chicken farm in Hieu Liem commune, Tan Uyen district said that I always hope that from now till the year-end the selling price of poultry products will be stabilized to help breeders feel secure in mind.

The price hike of poultry and cattle is a positive signal for breeders. However, weather often changes in the year-end and this easily appears kinds of epidemics. Therefore, breeders should be cautious and excel measures of epidemic control.

At present, the quantity of cattle and poultry herds at slaughterhouses has started increasing, so measures of epidemic control should be paid more attention.
