Over the past years, along with socio-economic development, the province focused on urban development. The province has made efforts in building up a civilized, prosperous and beautiful city, improving the quality of people’s life.
Good results
In 2019, the province’s rate of urbanization was 80%.17% and the figure is expected to be 82% in 2020. The province also paid more attention to urban planning.
A glance of TDM city
The whole province has so far had a first-class city (TDM city), 4 third-class cities (Thuan An, Di An, Ben Cat, Tan Uyen towns), 5 fifth-class cities (Dau Tieng township, Phuoc Vinh, Lai Uyen, Tan Thanh and Tan Binh). The province is expected to upgrade 2 fifth-class cities into Thanh Tuyen and Lai Hung townships.
The province has also realized projects on urban rejuvenation in association with housing development, contributing to improving the local urban image, the quality of people’s life and creating a motivation for socio-economic development. As of now. TDM city has built 65 parks and there are now 14 others under construction. Thuan An town has also put 3 parks into operation and is expected to further build additional 5 park projects...
In addition, the province has paid more attention to fostering inter-regional traffic systems, namely My Phuoc-Tan Van expressway, Bau Bang-Phu Giao-North Tan Uyen street, Thu Bien-Dat Cuoc street...Meanwhile, the province has also continued developing the local clean water supply system. So far, there have been 99.62% of city dwellers in use of clean water. The province since 2016 has had a total of 255 housing projects of 2,971 hectares approved.
In terms of education and healthcare, the whole province has had a total of 654 schools and continuing education centers with good investment. The province has continued implementing projects on healthcare, namely the 1,500-bed hospital, Hanh Phuc international hospital, Becamex international hospital... in the period of 2016-2020.
Striving to soon fulfill criteria of first-class city
In accordance with the Resolution No.1210/2016/NQ-UBTVQH13 dated May 25, 2016 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on urban classification, Binh Duong has reached 82.32 scores in 59 standards of 5 criteria of a first-class city.
Vo Hoang Ngan, Director of provincial Department of Construction (DoC) said that provincial DoC will coordinate with relevant agencies to advise province People’s Committee on further instructing construction of synchronous infrastructure systems; well realize programs on urban development...Provincial DoC will also advise provincial People’s Committee on directing the implementation of key projects, including further carrying out the projects of upgrading Nguyen Tri Phuong street, Bau Bang-Van Cong Khai street, Dong Bac 2 street in Di An town, DT743 street from Ong Cu temple to Song Than overpass...in order to fulfill the remaining standards of a first-class city.
Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee affirmed that the province will continue effectively carrying out an action plan on urban development to combat climate change in the period of 2017-2020 towards a smart city with green growth. Moreover, the province will boost the progress of construction of key works with regional connectivity; continue taking solutions to uphold the effectiveness of resources in developing the local urban projects...
In 2020, the province will strive to gain 30 sq.m per person on average housing area, 82% in urbanization rate, around 90% of waste treatment, collection rate and 99.62% of city dwellers in use of clean water.
