Under the province’s “Project of gathering young workers in the 2011 and 2015 period”, TDM city’s Steering Board for the Project has organized many effective models and programs, helping improve the spiritual and material lives of the local young workers.

Effective programs

Authorities at all levels of TDM city have always paid attention to taking care of the spiritual and material lives of the local young workers. Particularly, the city’s Youth Union over time organized many significant activities for the local young workers, including the “Spring street” festival with the participation of 1,000 Youth Union members and young workers. During the annual festival, the city’s Youth Union in collaboration with the city’s Labor Union visited and presented 250 gifts worth VND125mln to young workers at province-based companies.

The city’s Youth Union also teamed up with the city’s Center for Culture and Information to organize variety shows for young workers; kicked off the program of “Lighting up the dreams of young workers” with such meaningful and fun-filled activities as competitions on cooking, fashion…; gave financial support for 5 young workers with difficult circumstances; held a sports festival and a singing competition with the participation of more than 500 young workers…

In addition. the city’s Steering Board for the Project has also promoted the project of “information technology (IT) for youth” among the local youth in communes and wards of the city. So far, there have been 15 classes on IT universal education for nearly 300 learners. The city’s Youth Union over time also sped up dissemination of information about the Law on Road Traffic, the Law on Family Violence Prevention among the local youth. Whilst, the local Youth Union members actively mobilized workers’ offspring who dropped out of school to attend charity classes organized in the city…

Task of gathering young workers improved

TDM city’s Youth Union has taken good care of the spiritual and material lives of young workers. But, the local Youth Union has faced difficulties in the task of gathering young workers, especially in opening its affiliates in non-State companies and maintaining their operations.

Nguyen Duc Minh, Secretary of Hiep An ward’s Youth Union said that the local Youth Union has well realized provincial Project of “gathering young workers in the 2011 and 2015 period. But now, some sub-unions for young workers herein face a risk of being dissolved. This is because some companies have had to stop operations in the current difficult economic period. Another thing that some lodging owners have changed their business scope, so workers have had to move to other places for lodging…

To redress the above difficulties, according to Nguyen Van Sum, Vice-Secretary of TDM city’s Youth Union cum Chairman of the city’s Youth Federation, the city’s Steering Board for the Project and its affiliates will further innovate the activities of the local sub-unions for young workers in both content and form; promote the establishment of such sub-unions at non-State enterprises and create favorable conditions for members to improve their skills of gathering young workers.

The city’s Youth Union has also petitioned provincial Steering Board for the Project to support its working budget. It is believed that the city’s Youth Union and its affiliates will set up more sub-unions for young workers, contributing to taking better care of their spiritual and material lives. It is known that since early this year, the city’s Youth Union has set up additional 7 sub-unions for young workers with 694 members, bringing the total number of such sub-unions herein to 184.
