Update: 08-07-2016 | 13:25:30

Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels have concretized a lot of actions on limiting the use of plastic bags; collecting and classifying waste; making environmental hygiene…in each member, aiming to join hands in environmental protection.

Good ways

Bo Thi Anh Tuyet, Chairman of Chanh Phu Hoa ward’s Women’s Union said that in response to the “Building up families with 5 Nos, 3 Cleans” campaign, since 2011, the local Women’s Union has launched a variety of movements on “women joining hands in protecting the environment, limiting the use of plastic bags, building up green, clean-beautiful urban areas” among the local women. Accordingly, the local Women’s Union mobilized around 400 women not to use plastic bags in daily life, delivered 100 plastic handbags and 50 environmentally friendly bags to members, greatly contributing to protecting the environment.

Going to the market with plastic handbags has become a habit of women in Ben Cat town’s Chanh Phu Hoa ward

Noticeably, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels have implemented many models on environmental protection based on each locality’s feature. The Youth Union of Tan An ward in TDM city has actively mobilized officials and members to clean up model streets and commit not to litter to canals. The Women’s Union branch of quarter 1 and DX141 street were selected to carry out this model. Initially, the local Women’s Union sorted out some families to set bright examples on environmental protection, making pervasive influence to others.

Public awareness of environmental protection raised

Over the past time, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels sped up dissemination of information about the content and significance of the “Building up families with 5 Nos and 3 Cleans” campaign among officials and members.

In 2015, there were 143,637 out of 148.890 members of provincial Women’s Unions at all levels registering to carry out the campaign. Among them, there were 135,020 getting all the 8 criteria of the campaign as of late 2015.

Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels also mobilized members to tidy up streets, residential areas, monuments…with a total length of 84.2km while promoting education, communication activities via concrete actions, including actively responding to the “Cleaner World” campaign, the World Environment Day…, with many effective models developed.

TDM city’s Women’s Union was very successful with the models of “Green space”, “Women sharing efforts in building up model streets”. Or, Lai Thieu ward’s Women’s Union in Thuan An town has so far presented 1,582  key finders worth nearly VND5million to women under the model of “environmentally friendly key finders”. Whilst, Dau Tieng and North Tan Uyen districts’ Women’s Unions effectively carried out the models of “Lighting up rural roads”, “Lighting up alleys”…over the past time.
