Upholding the role of women in combating climate change, keeping the environment for sustainable development, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels have attached special importance to disseminating, building practical models and activities, thereby mobilizing women and locals to join hand in environmental protection.

Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels have registered to implement model streets managed by women. Through “Green” Sundays, many street that were previously unhygienic street markets…have so far got clean and beautiful. Cao Thi Hong Nhung, Chairwoman of Phu Cuong ward’s Women’s Union in TDM city said that for Phu Cuong actually becoming a green city, the ward’s Women’s Union has actively mobilized women to build civilized urban and cultural lifestyle. This movement has aimed at enhancing their awareness of constructing green-clean-nice streets, well realizing regulations not encroaching on pavements and streets, contributing to ensuring the local traffic safety and order.

The “Three-clean” movement has been developed strongly in the rural region of the province. Doan Thi Kieu Van, Chairwoman of An Binh communal Women’s Union in Phu Giao district said that thanks to propaganda and mobilization promoted, the local women have actively carried out the “three-clean” campaign and been more proactive in taking part in the new rural construction program. Many small-but-significant deeds in environmental protection have also been carried out by the local women, including building model streets, streets without waste; using safe vegetables; setting up a habit of keeping houses clean…

With the motto of “Protecting the environment from the smallest deeds”, provincial Women’s Union has attached special importance to organizing activities towards grassroots level. Being launched from 2009, the “Family with five Nos and three Cleans” campaign has so far affirmed its obvious efficiency.

In a bid to be proactive to engage activities in environmental protection, provincial Women’s Unions at all levels have set up appropriate models, namely “self-managing streets”, “self-managing waste collection group”, “women say no to plastic bags”...Over the past time, provincial Women’s Union also organized a lot of competitions relating to environmental protection, namely “Binh Duong’s women combat natural disasters and climate change”, “Women’s creative day”…, with many practical products.

Truong Thanh Nga, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union assessed that the above contests contributed to enhancing women’s awareness of environmental protection. Till now, many practical products and creative ideas on environmental protection have been applied effectively.

She also asserted that provincial Women’s Unions at all levels have realized propaganda on environmental protection in a synchronous way, creating an obvious change in action and awareness of women in particular and people in general. But, with the province’s fast urbanization speed, the environment has still faced challenges. That’s reason the whole society needs to join hands in environmental protection.
