Offering the best for socially-privileged families has been always the ethics of gratitude which is highlighted in Binh Duong Province by activities of Tet offerings, charity house building, and giving-away furnitures as well as free healthcare services.

Tet is in the air for the families

In the days near Tet, we visited socially privileged families to listen their stories about the Tet Holiday of old time. The warmth of the season has been maintained through years by the care of local sectors and authorities. Nguyen Thi Hanh, a Vietnamese Heroic Mother residing at Quarter 6, Thoi Hoa Ward in Ben Cat Town, told us about her annual gifts from local authorities to encourage her getting through the loss of children sacrificing themselves to protect the nation.

Binh Duong Provincial leaders are giving out gifts to socially privileged families in Dau Tieng District

Being back to Bau Bang District, we visited Le Van Sang, an injured veterans at Hamlet 5, Tan Hung Commune. Sang retold the year of 1965 when he was injured in revolutionary activities. In peacetime, he kept on the spirit of a soldier of Uncle Ho to raise his children. However, he has been living in poverty as the health status is degrading. His joy for Tet was enlightened by a charity house offered by Binh Duong One-member Lottery Co. Ltd. at the cost of VND 60 million.

More disbursements to socially-privileged families

From the beginning of 2015, by provincial demands, Binh Duong Provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) has coordinated with functional sectors to consult with Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee to consider and determine disbursements to socially privileged families. In the meantime, DOLISA grassroots are demanded to review and list up those individuals and families in needs to make righteous disbursements. In this year, it is expected that over VND 146 billion (15% higher than in 2014) shalld be paid out.

Aside from central and provincial budgets, localities in Binh Duong Province also extracted from their local budgets and receive funding of individuals, organizations, and enterprises to support socially privileged families. In Thuan An Town, VND 481 billion, in the Tet Holiday, shall be paid out. In Thu Dau Mot City, Mr. Nguyen Duong, Head of the city Division of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, announced of gift visits to 13 heroic mothers, 6 pre-revolutionary cadres, 87 socially privileged and poor families, 9 religious establishments, and 5 managing authority for socially privileged subjects at the cost of VND 144 million. In the meantime, the city has initiated to build 5 and repair 12 charity houses at the cost of VND 750 million.

In Phu Giao District, 11 delegations have been established under consultancy with local People’s Committee to pay gift visits to 11 communes and townships of the district. It is expected that the delegations will start their visits from and on February 10 to give out 994 gifts.

Under plans of Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee, the gifts should be given out before lunar December 23.
