Southern Fruit Festival 2012 opens in HCM city

The Southern Fruit Festival 2012 kicked off at the Suoi Tien Cultural Tourist Area in Ho Chi Minh City’s district 9 on the morning of June 1. 

At the opening ceremony, the organizer presented the Vietnamese record certificate to the art work of “Truong tho tam thap nhi qua”- a dish processed from 32 varieties of fruits.

Many interesting activities were also organized during the opening ceremony, including a fruit parade with the participation of foreign art troupes from Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia together with the local groups.

In addition, the organizer opened a fruit floating-market with 70 booths from 21 provinces and cities nationwide.

Several cultural activities including a safe and delicious fruit contest, a fruit arrangement contest…. will be also held during the festival.

Coming the festival,  visitors have a chance to enjoy a special collection of fruits such as 50-60kg pumpkins, 9kg coconuts and 3 kg mangos.
