Final part: Foundation for Binh Duong city in the future

According to the Government’s Decision, Binh Duong will become a central city prior to 2020. The done socio-economic achievement after 18 years of re-establishment is a solid foundation for Binh Duong to write exploits and deserve the first class urban area in the coming time.

Building a civilized and modern city

After 18 years of re-establishment, under leadership and management of the provincial party committee, People’s Council and Committee plus effort of agencies at all levels, Binh Duong provincial socio-economy has reached great achievements with results higher than the whole country’s average level. From this result, the provincial People’s Committee decided to adjust planning in conformity with local development.

With rapid development and breakthrough opportunities in the coming time, on June 11, 2014 the Prime Minister ratified Decision No.893/QĐ-TTg on adjusting overall planning on Binh Duong provincial socio-economic development till 2020 and supplementing planning till 2025. The decision specifies that Binh Duong will be a central city prior to 2020.

Accordingly, Binh Duong city will become a civilized and modern city and one of socio-economic developing areas of the Southern key economic zone with the great spread impacting strongly on adjoining provinces. This is also an urban area leading in the rapid development process. In terms of economy, the city economic structure continues to be industry, service, agriculture with the income of nearly VND134mil per capita per year by 2020 and VND264mil by 2025 and more.

As for industrial infrastructure, there will be 35 industrial parks with the total area of nearly 13,765ha by 2020. Once becoming a central city, Binh Duong will be one of the large industrial centers in the region, a civilized and modern city and an industrial city in attachment to environment protection, national defense and security and among others.

Many synchronous measures

To be a central city as ratified, first of all, Binh Duong should focus on developing urban system in combination with central urban system and satellite urban system, towns, commune and ward centers. Through process of implementation, the local administration has concentrated on building a modernization and industrialization urban area. As such, urban image at many localities such as Thu Dau Mot city, Thuan An, Di An, Ben Cat towns and more have been built synchronously.

To deserve an industrial city, the local administration has promoted achievements of industrial parks under effective operation over the past years. Accordingly, though the provincial administration has 29 industrial parks occupying more than 10,000ha, rate of site clearance and compensation of industrial parks wins more than 98%. At present, as many as 26 industrial parks have put into operation and attracted 1,794 local and foreign projects, 1,368 of which are FDI ones, capitalized more than US$12.4bil and 422 domestic enterprises with the total capital of nearly VND34,500bil.

Besides, Binh Duong strives to absorb more enterprises and fill 16 industrial parks in Di An, Thuan An town and Thu Dau Mot city, build and perfect infrastructure facilities and develop more industrial parks and compounds in the province.

Looking back 18 years of re-establishment of Binh Duong province, local economy has developed strongly, becoming a sparkling locality of industry and foreign and local investment attraction.

Promoting the done results, Binh Duong will in the coming time make up more new exploits to help the locality deserve as a central city in the future.

Aside from industrial parks, Binh Duong will focus on developing industrial sector on hi-tech application, product diversification and more. The province will set out many measures to develop some industrial sectors for export and simultaneously accelerate operation of import and export, develop tourism service and transport service.

In order to become a central urban area, traffic system will be the most important breakthrough from now till 2020. Implementing this task, many projects have been launched including My Phuoc-Tan Van, routes in Tan Uyen and Ben Cat, DT743 and so on. These are important projects connecting central urban areas and neighboring areas, Binh Duong and neighboring provinces and Tan Son Nhat and Long Thanh international airports, Sai Gon sea port, Thi Vai deep water port and the Southern key economic zone.
