Spring comes early to policy families and people

 More than 1 month left until Lunar New Year 2020.To bring spring to policy families, beneficiaries, and poor people, Thu Dau Mot City has plans to visit and give Tet gifts to beneficiaries, help many families enjoy a warm, reunited Tet festival...

 Many activities to take care of policy people

Currently, the whole city has 11,892 social and policy beneficiaries, including 4,661 policy beneficiaries. During the year, from city to ward-level governments timely and well implement the Party and State's preferential policies and regimes for policy beneficiaries. The city leaders directed Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Office to make statistics, review subjects, and perform many practical activities to take care of  policy families, people with meritorious services, poor households, near-poor households, and people having difficult circumstances. After surveying the life of policy beneficiaries in the city, there are currently 83 policy households having difficult circumstances, frequent illnesses, and 8 elderly households having special circumstances.

The city has 6,082 social beneficiaries, such as the elderly, lonely elderly, people with severe disabilities, single moms or dads...Besides, there are 1,286 poor and near-poor households. And through a survey of businesses in the area, the city currently has about 4,000 migrant workers being far from home and not affording returning home on Tet holiday. As planned, the city will organize visits and give Tet gifts to 400 workers having difficult circumstances, helping workers to have joyful and meaningful spring right in Binh Duong.

Đoàn Thị Thu Hồng, Head of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Office, said: “Activities taking care of policy beneficiaries on Tet holiday are to show gratitude to people with meritorious services to the country. As for the poor and social beneficiaries, Tet gifts are to support them to have a happy Tet holiday, and also demonstrate local government's care about them on occasion of Tet festival”. To bring spring to every house, on this Tet, in addition to the central budget, the provincial and city budgets will also spend over VND4.6 billion on visiting and giving Tet gifts to these people. In addition, the city also spent an mount outside the provincial norms to timely support and encourage disadvantaged policy families.

Accordingly, the city spent VND 215 million on visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiaries having difficult circumstances, social charity centers...Among these, visiting and giving presents to 7 heroic Vietnamese mothers, 5 revolutionary officials, each gift worth VND2.5 million; visiting and giving presents to 83 policy families having difficult circumstances, each gift worth VND1.5 million, gifts to 8 elderly people having especially difficult circumstances worth VND2 million each.

The community's joining hands

Joining hands to bring happy Tet to policy, social beneficiaries, the poor, the spring gifts for these beneficiaries this year have the effort from the whole community. The city Steering Committee for Poverty Alleviation, Red Cross, and other socio-political organizations also have plans to encourage companies and businesses to support Tet gifts for poor, near-poor, and plans for allocating to local wards. On the local level, every year People's Committee of wards call for businesses, benefactors to support Tet gifts for the near-poor and disadvantaged households in the area. On Tet holiday of previous springs, each household had at least one Tet gift. The warm, meaningful Tet gifts are materially and spiritually motivating, helping policy beneficiaries to have a joyful spring.

Also in 2019, Thu Dau Mot City built 3 gratitude houses for policy beneficiaries in Phu Cuong, Phu Tan and Chanh Nghia wards; repaired 6 gratitude houses. For poor households, this year's Tet will be also happier, as 16 poor households have new houses and 5 other families have renovated houses. Spring has come into every family of policy families, the poor in Thu Dau Mot City.

This work demonstrates the humanitarian and fine tradition of Vietnamese people. Currently, all levels of Party committees, authorities, agencies and unions from the city to wards have prepared well for Tet activities in a thoughtful, specific and urgent manner. Ms. Hồng added: “Thu Dau Mot City determines to perform well activities to take care of policy people on Lunar New Year 2020.We also check the payment of Tet bonus in wards, properly and adequately implement the State's preferential policies for policy people".
